Well, it's 1:45am on June 21 here in Sydney, which makes it winter
solstice.
Hope everyone in the northern hemisphere has a good summer solstice.
Those of us in the souther hemisphere are looking forward to the days
getting longer, but are somewhat dreading the cold weather that
inevitably follows the winter solstice.

The cats, who don't seem to suffer from my insomnia, are curled up
under the bedcovers, asleep. I shall suffer from lack of sleep
tomorrow (or later today); the cats won't.  Wish I had things as well
figured as they do!

Thank you, Tish, and hope your Winter Solstice is/was wonderful.

I am going on a picnic tomorrow with my friend to the house in the
country where he grew up. It sounds like a lovely thing to do for
Solstice, and I just hope it doesn't rain!

Merry Solstice to all!

Not the slightest chance of rain here in southern Arizona--the forecast is
for a high of around 104 degrees F., with a low of about 74, and even hotter
the rest of the week. Early July usually brings the beginning of the summer
rainy season here.

The cats are seeking the cool places in the house--although Tigger sometimes
stores himself in a cupboard, with the door closed--go figure.... Bubbles
lies flat on her back on the floor as if to say, "Please rub my tummy!"
Except she really means, "Please rub my tummy--I want to bite your hand!"

That reminds me of the Calvin and Hobbes strip that had Hobbes lying
sleeping on his back, all four paws up.  Calvin comes along and <pokes
him? tickles him? something like that>.  The last panel shows a
much-bedraggled Calvin walking away, saying, "I keep forgetting that
when he lies like that, five of his six ends are pointy."

The difference between the men and the boys in politics is, and always
has been, that the boys want to be something, while the men want to do
something.
