Island cats

Well, Midsummer is drawing near (in Finland, they move the midsummer
holiday to a weekend, but at least it's a three-day weekend; Friday is a
bank holiday) and I', planning of taking the cats to the island. I'll
come back and work for another week after Midsummer, then my five-week
summer holiday starts and I will rejoin the cats. Mum will be taking
care of them while I'm in town.

I can't wait to see how Caliban reacts to the big outdoors! I hope he'll
take Miranda's lead and carefully studies his surroundings rather than
rushes straight off into the brush. If he goes completely wild, I'll
have to bring him back to town for that last week of work. I know Mum
would worry herself sick if she couldn't keep tabs on him.

We leave early Friday morning. It's a slow bus, not an express bus, so
the bus trip takes four hours and then we have a boat trip of some
twenty minutes. Hope the sea isn't too choppy and no one is sick on the
bus or boat.

Ooooh, I can't wait to hear about Caliban and Miranda's island
adventures!  We will miss you though.  It's too bad you can't post from
the island.

Yeah, I wish. There's been talk about setting up a WLAN that covers the
whole archipelago, but I think it's only in the planning stage.

I was thinking last night it was near the time for your trip to the island.
Purrs for an uneventful journey and smooth sailing.

Miranda's an angel, but I'm a bit worried about Caliban. Lately, he's
meeped and peeped all the way to and from the vet's. Luckily his voice
is so small you can hardly hear him.

They are tricky though....we had a cat that never meowed until he got stuck
in a car trunk. He actually COULD but just never chose to. I hope you have a
great vacation. I would love just a week doing something like that.

Oh, poor boy! That's how Roxy is, too. She almost never meows, probably
because she got some scarring on her vocal chords as a kitten, during
a herpes outbreak. But if she needs, to, she *can* let out a good yowl.

I find that reassuring. I used to worry that she'd get stuck somewhere,
and I'd never know about it because her cry is usually almost silent,
more like a very quiet squeak most of the time.

Awww, Caliban just wanted to entertain you with his version of the TED
Blues.  Lets hope that he doesn't want to entertain you with his version
of "There's a Hole In the Bottom of the Sea."

Cinder and Rosie, aboard Genesis, are sending purrs to Caliban and Miranda
for smooth seas and a great time on the island.

Have a great holiday! Hope Caliban behaves, but I have a feeling he will
be little terror. :)
