Pippin had taken to sleeping on my desk chair. I wouldn't mind, but 1)
I'm tired of having to lint roll my butt everytime I sit down there, and
2) he's always in the chair when I want to sit. So...
I dug out the plug-in heated fleece-lined deluxe kitty bed that DH
bought a while ago and, after going through half a lint-roller and using
the pet hair magnet on the chair, placed the cat bed on the chair. That
way Pippin could shed to his heart's content, and I could pick him up,
bed and all when I needed to sit.
I'm sure you can see this coming:
Pippin will now not go anywhere near the chair, and has decided that my
bed is much nicer. Mithu just adopted the cat bed today, while it was
sitting on another chair next to my desk.

Yep! Saw that coming all right! It has to be their choice not yours every
time.Part of the charm of cats and the way they show superiority over other
4 legged friends!

On the bright side, it sounds like your plan worked -- Pippin isn't
sleeping on that chair!

Cendrillon has taken to jumping into my chair just as I am
sitting down, so I encounter more "cushion" (and sooner)
than expected! (So far I haven't squashed her, but I didn't
realize my reflexes were still that fast!)
