Last night I got groceries. When I got home and unloaded them, Tippy had to
jump up on the counter to check them out. He was probably checking to make sure
I got thier treats. Tippy has to check out every thing that is brought in the
house. Nothing gets in without his thorough inspection. Anyways he was sticking
his head in every bag thoroughly inspecting everything when his head became
entangled in the handle of the plastic grocery bag. He tried backing out to no
avail. Suddenly he jumped down from the counter taking the bag with him, thank
god he didn't hurt himself. He ran through the kitchen, into the dinning room,
around the table and into the living room dodging furniture with the bag still
in tow. He must have thought it was chasing him. When I finally caught up with
him, I untangled the bag from his head. All was well, except the dozen eggs
that was in the bag; three of them survived. Never a dull moment around here
with Tippy.

Ouch! I have to unpack all bags with one hand while pushing away Caliban
with the other, and then I have to hide the empty bag in a cupboard so
he doesn't get himself entangled. I mostly buy paper bags, though, so at
least he wouldn't suffocate if he got stuck.

Tear or cut the handles on the plastic bags before you put them away. Makes
them safer.

Poor guy, I hope it didn't frighten him too much. Some cats are traumatized
by this! Sounds like this incident wasn't quite that bad.

Naw not Tippy, he recovers pretty quick. A few minutes after the incident he
was back up on the counter checking things out again.
