Just saw a piece on the local news. A house caught fire. They said the people got out. They were interviewing a VERY handsome fire fighter and he said "We care as much.....we care an awful lot about the pets and try to do as much as we can" (Notice, he rethought "care as much about the pets as humans lest he outrage someone <g>) 3 cats were saved and given oxygen at the scene (they showed this too. Twice now, once in my old apartment and once in my new one, my door has been knocked upon and I open up to see a group of firemen. Almost every single one could pose for a magazine. All ages. I knew him before he became a fireman. He's not especially handsome, but not ugly either. Just normal-looking. But when he's in that uniform... I don't know. The first date, all he could do was talk about himself. I gave him a second chance and went out with him again. Same thing. The guy was really stuck on himself which in my book makes him a jerk. Probably wouldn't be a very supportive partner. He made sure I got a copy of the Firefighters Calendar in which he was Mr. May. Not bad looking at all, but still a jerk. He sent me a picture of him, his boyfriend and his "baby girl" 6 months after they adopted her. His BF was also a fire fighter and equally cute. Again, this reminds me of the most touching book dedication I've ever read, "This is for the men who died going *up* the stairs." (in memorial for the firefighters of 9/11).
