I wish I had the words to help your broken heart but, I don't. You have to
understand that Betty had the best possible life with you.  In the end all
your love couldn't cure her and you made the hardest but most loving choice
you could for Betty. You helped to end her pain. You did nothing wrong and
you have to stop blaming yourself.

We all have that one special cat at some point in our lives. It will be hard
but you need to remember the wonderful live Betty had with you. No one would
have cared for her the way you did.

I hope you will consider letting another cat into your life and give it a
forever home. There are so many cats that would benefit from all the love
you have to share with it. I understand it is to soon but don't put off
thinking about another cat for to long. Betty would want you to help another
cat find a forever home. You are not replacing her with another cat as they
are all different. I have 3 cats that are very different from each other
with their own personality and likes.

Hugs for your broken heart.

Thank you for these kind thoughts.  I know that Betty would eventually
have suffered and died, and I did see that she was really beginning to
suffer, I wouldn't have hesitated.  But when the one you love is still
kissing you and headbutting you, and looking at you with an expressing
that says that she wants to be with you always, it's hard.

But it's really all right.  I was responsible for Betty, and I'm sure
that it's part of this process and the end of our journey, to hold my
feelings in my heart.

I'm really glad to hear you say this! That sounds like the healing is
beginning.
