According to the National Hurricane Center's track projection for TS
Alberto, he's supposed to pass through the Savannah area sometime
Tuesday or Wednesday.

Purrs for the crew and masters of the good ship Genesis to weather
their first truly heavy weather well, even if they are in port for
several days!

Thanks, Jeanne,
This storm concerns us a lot, but not because we have not already
experienced heavy weather..  Jim and I are in  Atlanta, visiting with a
relative.  The kitties are boarded at the vet in Savannah.  Cinder is
scheduled to have her teeth cleaned tomorrow (Tuesday). Tomorrow I have a
ticket to go to from Atlanta to Oregon to see my  father, who is 85 and has
been diagnosed with early dementia.  My pregnant daughter also plans to fly
in, and I will get to see her also, as well as my sisters and other
relatives.  But, I don't know when I'll get to see my father again, and I
really want to see him while he still knows who I am.
Today, we are scheduled to have lunch with Julie Cook of this group.  We are
thinking that afterwards, Jim will drop me off  at a hotel with an airport
shuttle.  That way, I can get to the airport tomorrow.  He needs to get back
to Genesis to make sure everything, including the boat, is tied down well
enough.  I suppose he will stay on the boat because he will not have
anyplace else to stay.  The best place for the kitties would be at the vet,
where they are now.
As long as it remains a tropical storm, everything should be O.K.  I will be
so worried tomorrow during my flight.
Any purrs and prayers will be much appreciated.

Ummm.....  In this case, I don't think you should tempt fate
by using a word like "down"!  :-)

Hi Evelyn,

LOL.  That's an excellent point.

Right now, I'm in a motel in Atlanta, Jim is driving in the rain to get back
to Savannah, and Cinder and Rosie are behind bars at TED's. I'm scheduled to
fly to Oregon tomorrow, and Cinder will have her teeth cleaned. Jim will do
whatever he can to prepare Genesis for whatever is coming.

I'll try to post an update whenever I can.

Okay, I've been completely out of touch with the "real world" since my trip
to Kansas.  My parents live right in the path of Alberto and I had no idea
there was a tropical storm brewing down there.  I really should turn on the
television once in a while.  I just tried to call them and got no answer.
For some reason they are adamant about not having an answering machine so I
there's no way to even leave them a message.  Heck, they don't even like
leaving messages on *my* answering machine.  LOL

I don't know if they've evac'd off the coast or what.  (The live on an
island off the southernmost part of South Carolina.)  At their age they are
generally not both gone from the house at once and I know Mom went to the
grocery store last weekend so I can't imagine where they might be.  But when
tropical storms/hurricanes threaten they usually notify me that they're
driving inland to Georgia (Augusta, usually).  So now I'm concerned.  I hope
they did just drive inland and forgot to call to tell me.
