Poor Wolfie

Poor Wolfie just has too much fur, and he bites when I groom him, so
grooming sessions are very, very short and haphazard.  And although I
give hairball meds liberally, it doesn't always help.

So he had a terrible bout of diarrhea this week.  Which meant, given
his huge "pants" that I had to do a fair amount of cutting, and then a
bath.  Now, without a DH around, I had no idea how I was going to do
this.  I mentioned what I had to do to my new neighbor, Meredith, and
she volunteered to help!  Now *that's* a nice neighbor!

Got the job done thanks to her help, but then Wolfie started refusing
to eat, and started hiding under the couch.  How he even got under
there, I don't know.  There is room enough for small kittens, but not
a full-grown 10.4 lb. cat. He had to wriggle to get out from under
there.

So I had to take him to the vet.  He was a bit dehydrated from hiding
and not coming out even to drink, and they gave me some pills for his
tummy.  Diagnosis:  hairballs.

Grrrr.  Last thing I needed right now was a vet bill -- especially for
hairballs!  Luckily, my regular vets will bill me, and having told
Chad (the very sweet vet tech) about the divorce, he just said "Don't
worry about it, we'll bill you."  He even let me hang out behind the
counter and sit in his chair while he got Wolfie's and Internet's
prescriptions ready.  And I took Arthur along to get a claw trim,
since he will NOT let me do that at home.  Now he can sit on my
shoulder again, and seemed to know that, because last night he was
much more lovey-dovey than he has been lately.

Wolfie wolfed down food last night, and seems fine.  Guess it's better
to find out it's just hairball/sensitive stomach problems than
something much worse!

Things have just got to start getting better for you soon.

Definitely.

I'm sorry to hear about the vet bill, but glad it was just a hairball.

First, I read about your divorce troubles, and want you to know I
feel for you. An awful divorce is why I never remarried. It just
doesn't seem worth it.  Second, it's really good that you're finding
ways to get things done on your own when you were used to having
help. Finding help elsewhere is a really good start! Congratulations!
I live alone, and sometimes there are just *things* that take help to
do. Grab it when you got it. Neighbors, friends, family. Plus, you
learn to figure out new ways to do things.

Purrs for Wolfie and you.

I am glad he had hairballs instead of something worse.

Many purrs for a smooth divorce.
