I was sitting with the back door open, it's a beautiful sunny day, when a
fledgling starling flew in. It's lucky I was here, I think even Snoopy could
have caught it, she was interested. I caught very quickly and let go
outside, happily it wasn't harmed.

"Well done, daddy" says KFC cynically. She wishes it had come in to "her"
kitchen while meowmie was at work..yum yum.
Meowmie note: I'd have rescued it too. I just *hate* my cats killing birds
but I suppose they will continue to do it, it seems in the nature of mine to
hunt.
There are some feathers and a wing in front of the kitchen fire tonight. It
looks as if it might once have been an English robin :-(

How sad, I've seen a couple of robin fledglings in the garden this week. So
far they're safe but Baggy caught the wren that had been building its nest
in the hanging basket. :-)

I've had some bird experiences here lately, too. The second nest of
birds were laid and hatched under the soffet over my front door
recently, and I don't know if mama pushed them out too young or they
fell out, but 2 didn't make it the other day. I think one is dead up
there because mama sparrow didn't come home and I heard remaining
baby until 10pm the other night. My neighbors kids rescued a baby
robin and have been feeding it worm bits but I don't know the status
today. Then there was last week with the mourning dove stuck in the
cats enclosure. All of this handling of birds really shows how
something like bird flu could spread if it mutates.
