Smokey's Explicit images of a deadly sin

Warning to the sensitive:  These images contain graphic depictions of
sloth.  Sloth is one of the seven deadly sins, so let it be known that
r.p.c.a. does not condone the behaviour depicted in these images.
These images are excessive and gratuitous:  view at your own risk!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/Stormrave/DSC00382.jpg

First, we will define poking:  To poke is to work very hard at doing
nothing.  Kumani, on the right, depicts a normal curled-up cat enjoying
an afternoon nap.  Smokey, on the left, is in a poke...poking fairly
hard in fact.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/Stormrave/DSC00346.jpg

These images aren't posed.  That really IS what he does all day.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/Stormrave/DSC00371.jpg

Smokey moved his paw for a bit of a stretch.  Fortunately, he
remembered quickly that moving is discouraged (stretching counts as
doing something, and the true Zen poker can pass hours doing nothing at
all) and so you can see his paw remains spread out across the couch,
hanging partially in mid-air, as he is too lazy to put it down again.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/Stormrave/DSC00370.jpg

Excessive poking leads to complete derangement.

I think it excludes washing a paw, to be honest.  Bathing counts as
"doing something."

I think he had just yawned, but i missed the yawn and caught the
nose-lick that comes after it.

Smokey's kinda pathetic really.  Nocturne will groom for hours.  Smokey
will lick himself 3 or 4 times, call it good enough, and commence the
morning's poke.

I just started a new job last month, and while I'm very happy to have
a regular income, and I like the work, I haven't yet connected with
anyone socially. There are many reasons for this, but the most significant
is that I tend to work alone most of the time. I'm the only person who
does what I do, so although I interact with people to talk about work,
I'm not really part of any team. Plus, my office is in a remote corner,
where the only other person nearby is the most unfriendly co-worker I've
ever met! (OK, maybe not *ever*, but in recent memory, at least.)

Anyway, you might wonder what relevance this has to your post. Here's
what it is: I started to feel a bit depressed and isolated today, and I
was wondering if I would ever feel like a part of things here. And then
I checked RPCA, saw your post, and clicked on the above link. It really
cheered me up! So I've downloaded it to my desktop, where it can give me
a smile whenever I start to feel a little lonely.

They are both *soooo* adorable.

I'm glad I could cheer you up.

Make sure you go to office social events whenever you're invited, and
go out of your way before and after work and at lunch to ask your
co-workers about their lives, since you can't talk to them much during
the working day..  Particularly when you're asking questions and
they're able to talk about themselves, that helps connect with other
people.

I would probably like your office.  I'm a loner by nature.  I have to
make myself chat to people at work or school because ordinarily I keep
to myself.  I don't normally open up and offer conversation except to
people with whom I have something in common (like cats or toy
collecting) Those skills above, someone had to sit me down and TEACH me
those because I just never would've thought about it.  Maybe the person
next to you is like that...not actually unfriendly, just naturally
private.

Good luck.

LOL! He looks just like Tessie! She's always sleeping on her back with
her paws in the air and her head flung back... it looks MOST
uncomfortable, but it seems to make her happy :P

LOL! What a sinful poker! I'd call Caliban a poker, except he never lies
still, he loves rolling around. I guess that counts as 'doing
something.' He will roll around on the smallest areas, like the top
level of the cat tree. I'm always expecting him to come crashing down.

It sounds like Caliban is a poly (roly-poly) boy!  I have some
blackmail shots of a poly Nocturne...maybe I'll post those next :)

Ah!  I have often wondered what a Smokey Poke would look like.

Does he read "Garfield" for inspiration?

Our Smokey is the most active of our group, being up most of the day. After
all, you can't sleep AND eat.

Cali is the one with your motto, "Sloth Happens". :)

I believe that sloth is a very bad description of the master race at
rest, hey, we've groomed ourselves, we've eaten, we've redesigned the
furniture for you, we've left a large scented gift in the litter box
for you, we've allowed you to stroke us in adoration, don't you think
we deserve a little snooze now and then? I mean to say old chap/ess
(delete as necessary), 23 hours rest per day is hardly a lot now is it?
How else do you expect us to look so beautiful without our beauty
sleep?  Tsk, these blasted humans, they could learn a thing or two from
us!

These remind me of Oscar ... she seems to be asleep *all the time*,
but she must move at some point because sometimes she's in her box,
sometimes on top of the cat tree, sometimes on the back of the couch
