The class B ship races will be held in Beaufort North Carolina on June
30 to July 4th this year.  The race happens every four years, so this
won't happen again for a while.  Advance tickets are $30 and can be
ordered online at http://www.pepsiamericasail.com or over the phone at
1-800-514-3849.  On the day of the event they are $40 adult and $20
children and can be bought at Beaufort Box Office at 300 E. Front
street.  There are other locations where you can get tickets in
Beaufort.  The story about the tall ship races is at
http://www.fayettevillenc.com/life it's in the life section for today,
June 4, so you can check the archive for the information on it.  I'm
kinda excited about it, as we are writing about PC's ship and crew.

Pam,

Thanks for the heads up. I'll pass the info to Jim. He loves sailing. If we
are in the area at that time, I hope we'll be able to get a slip or
anchorage for Genesis.  I'm guessing that the marinas will be sold out and
the anchorages will be crowded or full.

Are you planning to attend the race?

Another event happening at that same time is the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots
Association reunion in Washington, D.C.

We are in Savannah, Georgia now.

Next week, I will be in Oregon visiting my father and other family.
He is 85 and has been diagnosed with early dementia and I want to see him
while he still knows who I am..

Jim & I will rent a car and drive to Atlanta and spend this weekend visiting
people we know in the area.  Then I will leave from the airport and return
on Monday, June 19.  The cats will not be too happy having shore leave
without us, but having teeth cleaned and being boarded at TED's place.  I
shudder at the thought of the tricks they will pull for revenge.

From here, our plans are to work our way north to Wilmington, N.C., where we
hope to see you and Rob and another couple.  He was in Jim's army helicopter
class way back when.  I think Rob would really enjoy visiting with the guys,
if you are able to meet us. We are hoping to be at Wrightsville Marina or
something like that.

We'll have a more definite timeline when we are under way again,

Please feel free to email me privately and I'll give you my cell number.

I want to attend the races, but Rob has developed a thing about groups
of people.  I'm lucky to get him to go to the grocery store with me
during the day and at mid week when there are fewer people in there.
He's a wonderful guy, but I'm never sure what phase he's in when
something happens.

He has promised me that he will come with me to meet you and your
family.  He doesn't know that Jim is a member of the "There I Was" club.
If I can, I'll surprise him with it.  He loves to get a chance to talk
helicopters.  He misses them a lot.

Pam S. who plans on sending a personal email as well.

I'm sure Jim and Tom would be glad to take him under their wing (err rotor
blade) if we can coordinate a visit with everyone at the same time.

Annie, who will get to her emails after reading this group

Hi Polonca,

Thanks for the purrs and good wishes.  This visit with my father will be a
good one.  I don't know when I'll see him again and what that visit will
bring.  I'll just take them one at a time.
It will be hard being away from the cats.  Rosie never has been boarded.
Cinder was boarded one time at a vet clinic, but that was because she needed
medication for an ear infection and I didn't want the cat sitter to have to
catch and treat her.  Cinder has a bit of an attitude, but is O.K. with the
vets.
