Robert Duvall is the actor in the leading role, and he has a constant companion, a cat he calls Matilda, who is quite a character. They even go hitchhiking together!
The casting director must have had a hard time finding a female cat to play the role, because in numerous scenes you can clearly see Matilda's rather large testicles.
I wonder why they didn't give the cat a masculine name? Maybe they figured no one would notice that Matilda is actually a boycat.
I really enjoyed the movie. Robert Duvall is such a sweetie IRL too.

In Stars Fell, the cat helps the slave sniff out the right places to drill for oil.

Who's Ebert?
Chakolate - 05 Jun 2006 01:27 GMT > Who's Ebert? Roger Ebert, a popular American movie critic, previously one half of the famous pair of critics, Siskel & Ebert.

You said that he "left the cat's name off of the credits." That's why I don't get what you're saying. If he's a movie critic, he probably had nothing to do with preparing the credits.

For the review, he listed the main actors, but he left out the cat.

Inquiring minds, etc
Meanwhile... I'm *still* wondering whether any harm comes to the cat in this movie. I would like to rent it, but don't want to be worrying about that. Please, gimme the spoiler! :) (At least, as regards the fate of the cat.) Well, you don't have to spoil it all. I just want to know that the kitty turns out OK. Or if not, I want to know that so I won't rent the film.
Please, won't *someone* tell me?
Thanks! Joyce

Thanks for putting me at ease about the beastie, now I can watch the movie. :)

I like yours better, though. Particularly the Yellow Frocks one.

Hey, one question for Pat. Did any disaster befall the cat in this movie? I'm thinking of hunting it down in a local video store, but I don't want to watch it worrying the whole time that the cat will meet a bad fate. So that's one spoiler I don't mind getting!
Thanks, Joyce

It's an enjoyable movie.

How bizarre to use an obviously male cat to play a female. The least they could've done was use a long-haired cat. :) "Lassie" was also played by various male dogs, but you couldn't see their plumbing under all that long fur.
