One of The Yowlet's favourite shows is Bob The Builder. I quite like Bob The
Builder too. its a nice litle show with good ethics and enough stuff to keep
us adults somewhat interested (lthe romance between Bob & Wendy, for
example).
But my absolue favourite character is Pilchard, Bob's cat. Clearly, the
writers of Bob The Builder are cat slaves, because they have the behvaiour
of Pilchard down perfectly. Pilchard was even doing the Land Shark, circling
around Bob when it was time for his breakfast. Pilchard also gets in the
way, jumps on things he isn't suposed to, and is otherwise cat-like. But on
the same token, also helps out and loves both Bob & Wendy.
I'm a big fan of Pilchard, and really like the show in its own right. Its
better, IMHO, than Boobahs or Teletubbies, they just made my brain hurt.

I'm very out-of-the-loop about children's shows. I know Bob the
Builder, kind of, but don't know any of the other characters. Don't
know the Boobahs either. My daughter's era was Smurfs, and sons was
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Both their favorites was Inspector
Gadget. I"ll try to catch old Bob on TV and check out Pilchard!

You're in Australia, right? When it's shown on tv here in the USA,
American actors voices are used. But it's so veddy veddy undeniably
English- the houses, the wallpaper, the landscape, just everything shouts
'England'. So do they use Strine actors for the voices in Oz?

Nope, its in all the lovely and varied English accents. Mrs Potts reminds me
alot of how Pam Eyre talks, and Farmer Pickles as what I'd consider a
classic "English Farmer" accent. I can't imagine Bob the Builder in American
accents - it just wouldn't be right.

You think that's bad? We have Noddy here with American accents. What
could be more English than Noddy?

I think I'd prefer it if they just left the English voices in, but they
didn't.

There's a Pilchard soft toy which meows (more like a Mrrrrrow) when
you squeeze his tummy, one Christmas DH and I set all the Pilchards in
Woolworths meowing......... ;-)

Whoever was responsible for Boobah,or however the darn thing's spelled, was
obviously on hard hallucinogenic substances.
