.....I was woken this morning by the feel of a tongue gently licking
my feet. Once she had thoroughly washed both my feet she rested her
head on them and gazed adoringly at me while purring her silly head
off.....She *must* have something wrong with her nose....they're my
feet and I wouldn't (even if I could) put my nose within 12 inches of
them voluntarily. :-)

Lol! Maybe she has a problem with her sinuses.

My former pet Annabel Lee (RB 2002) loved stinky shoes. She would
push her head down into my shoes as soon as I took them off.
Cinders loves to lick me, to the point that I have to keep my arms
under the covers at night. Otherwise, I will be awakened by a raspy
tongue licking my hands or arms. For some reason, she rarely licks my
head.

I'm sure you keep your feet clean, but you probably should discard your
shoes. Years ago, I bought two pair of expensive shoes from our city's
leading shoe store. The black pair made my feet stink! I tried various
things to clean the shoes, but eventually had to discard them. It must
have been the leather that caused the problem. MLB

My feet have always been 'aromatic' and until recently they were the
only part of my body to sweat. The family joke is that I grew tall so
my nose could put as much distance between it and my feet as possible.

Most feet are somewhat smelly, but I did have a pair of leather shoes,
years ago, that I had to discard because they smelled so bad. Some
important step had apparently been skipped when the leather was
prepared, and they smelled like rotting meat.

I wish shoes were the problem but I go to bed at night with clean
sweet smelling feet and wake up in the morning with stinky sweaty
ones.......but Smudge (and some of the other cats) seem to like the
aroma.

I like that explanation! It's a common problem with my family, too,
the aromatic feet. It's been explained as 'stinky cheese'.
I have discovered that if I wear ONLY white cotton socks, the smell
goes away. It's probably some kind of fungus that resists all
attempts to kill it (or is so prevelant in my apartment(s) that I
can't get rid of it), so I just keep up with the white cotton socks,
and forget the fashionistas who recoil in horror when they see my
white cotton socks between the black leather shoes and the black
pants. Yes, shocking, but at least I dont' stink!

I'm allergic to some plastics and materials in some tennis shoes. If I
wear them, especially with nylons or bare feet (yuk) I will definitely
add to the odor content of the house. You may be allergic to something
in your foot wear and never know it.

I'm thinking that it's the dyes in the colored socks. That's why I
don't wear colored socks. Nylons are long gone, thanks to problems
with my hands and arms. Pantyhose will never cover these legs again.

Redunzel and Sarrasine both love to sniff and rub their heads against
my shoes when I come in. I think perhaps the smells from outside
interest them or maybe they're just so glad to see me that they don't
care that my feet are inside the shoes!
Mind you (OT) the all time winner was my dad's sister. The day after he
died, she came over and insisted on taking his old shoes that he'd had
for years and wore in the garden on the grounds "I can smell him on
them"
