My Mama doesn't think I'm too heavy, yet. But then my big brother Jazz (RB) was almost 17 lbs, so she was used to carrying heavy stuff! Mama says I don't have to ever be a grown-up if I don't want to. But I'm a lady, and I guess I have to start behaving like a lady someday. I still like to hang half-way off the kitchen table when nobody's watching and fall 'bonk' on my head. Dante is not that big a cat to look at-- he * looks* rather small, and he hasn't grown much in height or length in the past few weeks. But he's very densely packed. ;) You really don't expect what you get when you pick him up, and when he flings himself at you. When she's being naughty and I have to pick her up to stop doing something then suddenly she is this huge massive feline beast When I'm going out in the morning and she doesn't want me to go, she's a tiny delicate little kitten. Beats me how she does it. Redunzel is just tiny. When we first got them she was much the bigger of the two but somehow she seemed to stop growing before Sarrasine did through originally we thought Sarrasine must have been the runt of the litter she was so small but Redunzel is small and skinny however much she eats (I wish I had her metabolism and it can't be that she burns it off with exercise- her second favourite activity (after stuffing her face) is sleeping) Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs > Sarrasine can vary her body mass at will! > [quoted text clipped - 11 lines] > off with exercise- her second favourite activity (after stuffing her > face) is sleeping) I am always amazed about the weight of cats I read about here. Rusty is probably considered skinny compared to most of the cats described here. He is around 8-9 lbs and most of it is probably just his thick fur. When I adopted him at age 1, I was persuaded to buy a good size carrier to accomodate his growth. Well he has grown since he came home with me. I feed him enough, with top quality, and now prescription food. I must admit though with the pricey prescription food, portion size is stictly enforced. But he does get the recommended portions. His carrier is too big for his size. I have seen bigger cats in smaller carriers at the vet. The vet warned me once to watch he doesn't get overweight. Not a chance. The highest he attained was 10 lbs and he has a long body. Rusty has never stuffed himself. I remember taking him to the vet for not eating the fisrt summer. But he has never refused any food put before him, and that includes all brands and types of prescription food, some of which the vet thought he won't eat. He ate them all, even those that didn't agree with his tummy. He doesn't exercise much, especially now that he is 12 years old. He sleeps a lot.
