Arrrrrrrggh, the daily grind.  I hate to say it, but ever since school
started back up again, there haven't been that many animals.  In one
sense that's good, you don't have a ton of dogs to walk.  On the other
hand it gets quite boring after a while.

Then I'm finding myself trying to find something productive to do, so
I don't end up standing or wandering around like an idiot.

But after a while, cleaning and dusting shelves, refilling bottles and
supplies get REALLY old.

However, there are a few times where it does perk up.

There's this really cute Absynnian kitten in the clinic.  She's so
sweet and she really started purring when I started scratching her
under the chin.  Too bad the poor thing got declawed.  She was the
third kitten this week that got all four paws declawed.  :(   But she
is a sweetie and is going to be a beautiful pet to someone.

There was a box with two kittens in it today and we were only
examining one.  The one we were working on was screaming and yelling
and you could see the other one sticking his paws out and also
screaming, clearly saying, "LEAVE MY BROTHER ALONE!!!!"

Yesterday there was a carrier with two kittens,  as I opened the door
and reached in, one of the kittens hissed at me.  I raised an eyebrow,
"Well, now, aren't you a tough kitty."  I reached in again and this
time she swiped at me, and gave a LOUD hisspit."  I pulled my hand
back and started laughing.  "Okay, then, if that's the way you're
gonna be...."  This kitten was 10 wks old and she was hiss-spitting at
me.  Sheesh!

So I reach in quickly, she hissed at me again, and I quickly pick her
up by the scruff.  As soon as I grabbed her, she quieted down.  I pull
her out and hold her up, and she's dangling and looking at me, all
quiet and wide-eyed.  "Aha, not so tough now, are you?"  After I gave
her the deworming medicine, I stuck her back in the carrier.  As soon
as I let go, she turned and "HISSSPIT!!!"

Lunch hour is the time for me to lie down and recharge my batteries.
of course I lie down, close my eyes, and soon Pete is sitting on me.
And how can you ignore a purring cat sitting on your chest?

Pete did catch another mouse.  Apparently it was cornered in the
treatment room under the fridge where we keep drugs and supplies.
Mike cut off it's retreat and Jen flushed him out.  Pete pounced on
him and held him triumphantly in his mouth.  Jen brings out the
wastebasket and without anyone telling him to, Pete walks over to the
trash can, and deposits the still alive mouse.  What a smart boy!!!
He immediately got some delicious food.

I did make a score card for him last week.  I drew pictures of eight
mice on a card with a black pen and in red crossed out three mice for
the three he killed last Sat.  Now after this one, another mouse has
been crossed off.  hehehehehehehehehe

Ahhhhhh, time for some muich needed sleep.
