Want to see how you are doing today and how the hand is doing

> Want to see how you are doing today and how the hand is doing

Feeling better now, I don't cry anymore.

The more I go over the situation,t he more suggestions that are made, the
more I realise that I made the right choice for everyone involved. In an
ideal world I'd have infinite time, money and space and be able to tend to
the whole world's needs, both two foot and four foot. But i"m just one
woman, with limited time, money and space (and energy), and have to be able
to prioritise and admit to myself that I can't do everything for everyone
all the time.

Even human children are given up for adoption when their mothers think that
the life the kid will get from adoption will be better than the life their
own birth mother can give. Its an act of love in its own right. IBKFergus
would be better of somewhere else where there was no other cat (dogs would
be fine), where the hoomins had more time for her, and where there wasn't a
young child that could inadvertently stress her out.

I couldn't give her the time and space she needed, I couldn't provide an
environment where she'd calm down and feel comfortable. It took her to
attack me to realise that, but I did realise that. I pray that she does find
the right foreverhome, and I know now that taking on a "special needs" cat
is not something to do when you have very limited time. I'd advise anyone
with young children *not* to adopt a pet that needs alot of time, especially
one that can do serious physical (and psychological) damage to the kids.

Yup, the more I think about it, the more I *know* that this is the best
outcome for all. She'll find a foreverhome that suits her, whether it be
adoption or cattery, and the other ferals around here will get a chance too.

OK   Now you need to take one more step and give yourself credit for what
you did do.  No more feeling like you tried and failed.

Where would IBK be now if you had not taken her in?  You knew it was a high
risk choice at the time.  I remember the posts.  You did all you could
anyway.  You knew up front just what the odds were against making an
Australian feral cat, even a kitten into a house cat.

But you still raised her, cared for her, kept her healthy - not to mention
alive.  And did everything in your power to give her the best start in life
possible for her at the time.  You did that and you did it well.  You
succeeded against all odds.  She goes forward in the world with a chance at
a life.  A chance you gave her.

You did a good thing.  A very good thing.

Boy a little over a day after giving up on her  -after only a year and a
half - and you are over her already? I guess you didn't really care for
her that much after all.

You mean that it is the best outcome for everyone but IBKFergus!

No, I'll never be fully *over* her. That I'm not shedding tears anymore does
*not* mean it doesn't hurt.

Why do you say that? IBKFergus will be going to place that can cater to her
needs far better than I can. Even the worst outcome - her going to a
cattery - will mean she's not in a place with another cat she was forever
competing against, and not in a house with a toddler. She'll have our own
space there, and have food, water and shelter. Its not like she currently
likes human company anyway, so she won't be bothered by the lack of
affection. The best outcome for is her to be adopted by caring people who
know how to handle ferals, who don't have young children, and don't own any
other cats. This si far more than I could offer her inthe next few years.

Its better for her to go someplace where she can be taken care of properly
than to stay with us when, until she could demonstrate she was no longer a
threat to my child would be locked away by herself in the only room we have
available - the garage. Whatever treatment she needed would take *time*,
something I don't have to give. If the problem was medical (she didn't have
any obvious medical issues - as the Cat lady confirmed) she'd still have to
be locked away until she recovered. If it was behavioral, she'd still be
locked away until she recovered, and surely locking a cat away doesn't help
with behaviorial problems. Surely, it is also in her best interest to find a
home where her needs are more adequately catered for? To keep her here would
not only be risky to my son, but *also* not helping IBKFergus to become
*less* risky. You may not approve of what I've done, and thats up to you.
Again, it was a mistake to think I could care and tame a feral kitten with a
young child int he house in the first place, and now I'm doing what I should
have done when I got her - give her to someone who can do what I couldn't.

Long after her chances of being properly socialized are gone. You took her,
enjoyed her kittenhood, failed to properly train and treat her, then
abandoned
her when your own neglect of her rendered her inconvenient.

This will bite you in the a.s one day. I sincerely hope you will write about
that. Selfish a.shole.

Hey, if you're going to respond to the trolls, could you snip the
quoted text? Otherwise, those of us who've already killed 'em still
have to see their crap!

Note that I have cut out all the gangrenous parts of this message.
There, doesn't that feel better? :)

This has been a public service announcement. Thank you.

Killfiles are a wonderful invention...

This shows how little you know about feral cats.......here's a
clue........some can never be socialised totaly.

You know this how? Were you hiding in Yowies home watching her every
move - I think not! You're making judgements based on guess work and
idle supposition.

Of course!  It's so much easier to kill(file) the messenger(s) than to
actually admit one of your precious few did something wrong.

You people need a dose of reality.
