Thank you, Adrian. I've been thinking about my baby girl a lot, and I
updated Nikki's page a little.

I wasn't around on the newsgroup when Nikki went to the RB last year,
so I didn't recognize this date. But I'm glad Adrian mentioned it, so
I could take another look at Nikki's tribute page and reflect on what
a sweet (and pretty) kitty she was. I love the opening shot on the
page - she's got something in her sights! I hope she's doing lots of
great hunting and exploring in the big Island in the sky.

Hugs & purrs,

Thanks, Joyce. I know she looked very sweet and innocent, with those big
eyes of hers, but she was really one of the cattiest cats I've ever met.
;o) I still loved her and miss her a lot. Happy hunting, Nikki!

What a nice tribute.  You'll always be able to smile when you see that

I remember taking that picture. It was one of the rare moments when you
wish you had a camera nearby, and then you realize you do. I was
watching TV and looked around for Nikki, because she would usually make
me company when I watched TV. Then I saw the legs sticking out of the
box. After falling about laughing for five minutes, I thought, where's
the camera? Can I get it without disturbing her? and I realized it was
on the table by my chair. So for once, I had a camera just when I needed
one.

It's hard, isn't it?  I think we all grieve with you for both Frank and
Nikki, as they were wonderful and remarkable cats.  I hope that she is
getting plenty of water vole hunting time up at the bridge, and that
Frank gets plenty of laid back uncle time with the rest of the gang up
there.

>Hugs and purrs, Marina, on this sad anniversary.

Purrs for you on Nikki's RB anniversary. It is so sad that we are
destined to outlive our beloved furry friends.

I always remember my RB kitty's anniversaries with more than a little
sadness.

It  seems only yesterday I was reading stories about Frank and Nikki's
many adventures.

I remember vividly reading about Frank and Nikki when I first started
reading the group, back in 1999. They seemed to lead such exciting
lives, compared to my (now RB) indoor only kittys, Lucky and Blizzard.

Buried deep in the many hundreds of bookmarks I have, I found a working
one which goes to a web page with a picture of Nikki, and an audio file
of her purring! (It's a big file, about  1.5 meg).

I thought perhaps you might want to repost it in honor of Nikki.

It's a possibleplaces.com web page.

If you don't have it, and want to put it up, please E-mail me, removing
the obvious from my E-mail address, and I'll send it to you.

I can no longer reliably receive RPCA at work, (more than half the posts
are missing) and I don't always check it during the week, but I always
check my E-mail at work.

And while they can't take Frank and Nikki's places, I do so love and
look forward to your many wonderful stories and pictures of beautiful
Miranda and dashing and handsome Caliban.

It's on CatNipped's site, at http://www.possibleplaces.com/Nikki_Purr/.
For some reason, I can't get it to work with my Firefox. I'd like to put
that purr on my webpage for Nikki, but again, don't know how to. What's
the html I need? Anyone?

First, purrs for the anniversary of Nikki's passage.  I tried loading
the page on Firefox here at work and found that it needed the plugin for
WAV media files, even though I already have Windows Media Player on my
computer.  Firefox said it wanted the Apple Quicktime plugin, so I had
to download and install that (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download).
It setup the WAV file association in Firefox to use Quicktime to play
downloaded WAVs and I could hear the purr.  I then changed the download
action to play with the default player (Tools - Options - Downloads -
View & Edit Actions), changed the WAV action from Quicktime to Open with
Default Application (Windows Media Player), saved the settings, closed
firefox & restarted it.  Now I get Nikki's purr playing embedded via
WMP.  I'm not very familiar with Firefox - I'd like to manually create
file associations so I wouldn't have to download something and just use
an app I already have.

I've tried downloading Quicktime a number of times, but Firefox still
claims that the plug-in is unavailable. I followed the steps you
suggested, but there was no WAV in the list. There's WMA, WAX and WVX,
but no WAV. Thank you for going to all this trouble to help, though!

Well, Firefox is lying. :) I use Firefox myself, and have watched
many QT videos. Wish I could help you figure out how to make it work
in yours.

It is strange, even when two computers are the same model with the same
software installed they behave differently. Nikki purring works fine on
Firefox here.

Sorry that didn't work for you.  Here's something I found via Google
that might be worth trying at your end. It's a Quicktime Guide for
Windows and explains some tweaks to get it working in Firefox. Let me
know if this works for you.
