After the mysterious voices coming from the fence yesterday, Vino was a
bit wary of the backyard for a while. But when we were outside in the
afternoon, planting some herbs, he was right there trying to eat the
catnip plant before we could even plant it. He was rubbing his head all
over it, crushing the tiny little leaves. We had to plant it in a pot
and are keeping it way up high on top of the freezer in the laundry
room, where Vino can't get at it (hopefully).
Very early this morning, a big huge black cat with a little bell on came
into the back yard. He is obviously a more athletic critter than Vino,
because Vino would never even attempt to jump that high fence. Vino was
very perturbed by the interloper sitting on our BBQ. Dennis had to get
out of bed and shoo the cat away.
Then, later on this morning, Ben the gardener came over. The house
rental includes lawn mowing once a month. I met Ben last month, but it
was Vino's first time. We kept him inside while the mowing was being
done, but he had to supervise every step of the way from the windows.
Now he is zonked out on the bed from all the excitement :-)

Better watch him, though! Cats learn from each other. If he sees that
cat scaling the fence, he just might try it. Maybe he never thought of
it before.
Hope he continues to enjoy the back yard in spite of the evil disembodied
voices, and especially once it's full of catnip!
