A long time, we're talking *years* long friend, has a brain tumor. She just
called me to tell me. She's 46 years old and has two teen children, John
and Paige. She and her family moved away from here around the year 2000
when her husband John was transferred.
She said the doctors in Philly found the tumor after she started noticing
lack of full function in her left side and friends commented she seemed to
be dragging her left leg. The doctors have said the tumor is way too deep
and too close to the brain-stem to operate on.
This once lively young woman now has to use a cane to walk. She's only able
to function since they put her on steroids to control something... I don't
understand that part and she doesn't, either; she just knows she feels
better. She just got out of the hospital after a three week stay where they
were doing tests and stuff. Her poor kids are terrified. Her MIL is there
to try to help out.
She has a cat named Julie and a golden retriever (I forget his name) whom
she can't take for walks anymore.
Please, purrs for my friend Terri, that maybe they can do something for her.

Have her look up Dr. Jho in Pittsburgh. I believe his Web site is
drjho.com. If that is wrong, a google of Dr. Jho Pittsburgh should bring
him up. He is the neurosurgeon who repaired Jim's back. He is
internationally known. He may even be on your friend's health insurance plan
if she has one. He was on ours as in network and we were in Corpus Christi,
Texas.
Purrs are on the way for your friend. This is so sad.

The biggest, loudest purrs we can muster are on the way for your friend,
along with purr-ayers from the humans around here. May the doctors
successfully treat this tumor and may her health be restored. God bless
her and her family.

That part of the brain covers the automatic functions of the body, like
breathing and heartbeat, so it goes to reason that they can't operate
there because there is not way to do the operation without messing up
the functions of that area.
One of Rob's tumors couldn't be operated on for the same reasons. SO
they radiated and gave her chemo for it as well as the other three
tumors they found that they could operate on. She may want to ask about
using Temodar (I'm sure I spelled that wrong). Between the radiation
and chemo, all of Rob's tumors shrunk, including the one near his brain
stem.
I'll be thinking good thoughts for her and asking the cats to purr for
her and her family. Please keep us informed.

Lots and lots of purrs. I would suggest going to the nearest teaching
hospital that specializes in neurosurgery to get a second opinion.
