Dear all,
Please could you purr for the lovely black cat (not IBKFergus) who
went RB today after being run over by a car. Yowie saw the car who
ran over the cat, but did not see the incident. She saw the cat in
the gutter after the car left, clearly in a bad way, but was not able
to catch it to help. The cat subsequently went RB. Yowie is very
upset, but cannot type at the moment because of a small Yowlet in her
lap (and the temporary absence of Joel from the house).
Please purr for the RB kitty and for a very upset Yowie who cannot
express her upsetness until the Yowlet is safely in bed.
Thanks
Tish

I made the same mistake at first. It isn't IBK, thank God. I feel bad for
the unknown though and horrible for Yowie. The same thing happened to me
once and it was awful :(

The poor little one...please tell Yowie she did what she could, and the
fact that she has enough heart and soul in her to go to help this unknown
cat is a testament of her goodness as a human being, and not a stigma of
failure. That cat crossed over knowing that, in his last moments, there
was someone who cared, and that dear cat will remember Yowie until they
meet in the summerlands. Someone will be there on the other side to love
and care for that lovely kitty, someone who had never known soft fur and
a loving purr while on earth; and both will someday be there to thank
Yowie for her running-over kindness.

Oh dear, I'm blubbering again.
I felt just *so* helpless. Poor cat. He or she was a gorgeous black beast...
far too much like Jet/Potjie to not play on my heartstrings that little bit
more. How could I not turn around and stop? How could I not try to catch the
cat? How could I not offer assistance to another soul in pain?
For many practical reasons, the cat running away from me rather than letting
me help was probably For the Best, bit I still feel like I let it down
somehow. Sorry puss. I hope you know I was just trying to help.

I know the feeling and I think you did the right thing. The last thing
you want is to chase the cat back into traffic trying to help and watch
him get run over. That would be very traumatic. :(

A few years ago I saw a kitten being hit by a car. Since this is a very
busy street, some horrible person must have thrown the poor kitten out
of the car. I came too late to get to the kitten before s/he got hit,
but then I just didn't care about the cars (they stopped) and I went to
pick up the poor little kitten. S/he was having seizures from being hit
and died a few moments later. The little kitten still haunts me. I keep
thinking I could have done more and if only I had been there a few
moments before. But because of the cars I probably would not have seen
the kitten in time.
Lots and lots of hugs for you, Vicky,

Hugs to you, Polonca.
Your kitten will meet you at Rainbow Bridge, as its not how long we love
them but we did at all. I dont know about my black kitty, if she or she had
slaves somewhere, then he'd cross with them at RB, but perhaps I'll get to
scritch his or her ear on my way through.
