Purrs for Bridget

Bridget (metektor) is having a difficult time right now. The tragic death of
Eve really got to her, and other stuff in her life (which she may well
divulge later) has really knocked her around emotionally.

If there's any purrs left in the big barrel o' purrs this group keeps (its
been a tough few months, huh?), can you send some Bridget's way.

Yowie,
Prepared to cop an earful from Bridget for doing this, but doing it anyway.

It has seemed like we've needed to generate a lot of purrs lately,
hasn't it? We seem to go through periods when a lot of really nasty
stuff happens to RPCA folks.

Sending as many purrs Bridget's way as we can possibly muster.

We've got more than enough purrs to go around, and are sending lots of
purrs for Bridget, even if she didn't ask for them herself.

Bridget wanted the group to know so they could act appropriately:

The other major event that really upset Bridget was that she'd just found
out that her 7 year old neice had been molested and raped by a trusted
friend of the family who often looked after Bridget's neice, as well as many
other kids in the neighbourhood.

I assured her that the group would send the very best of purrs to her neice,
who has not only had to endure what that %(&@# did to her, but the physical
exam and the questioning later, and would also send purrs to her naturally
distraught mother (Bridget's sister) and the rest of Bridget's family who is
understandably livid with rage as well as feeling guilty, upset etc etc.
They are currently undergoing intensive therapy.

The man has been arrested and charged, and further investigation is
underway. Even the grossest of litterboxes would smell sweet on such a
%(&@#, so I'll just hope that true justice will be carried out in full.

This is something that I deal with in my job (although I'm off sick with my
eye at the moment.)  What parents need to realise is that these people
"groom" a child for abuse.  They will take care of them lots of times
without abusing them, but suggesting things gradually and the child will
come to think of it as normal.
Most of you won't like what I've got to say here, but I'm going to say it
anyway.  If it protects one child, it's worth it.
If you leave your child with a babysitter, gently ask your child what they
did together while you were out.  99% of the time it will be fine.
Sometimes (rarely) it won't be.
Sometimes the abusers silence the child by saying if you tell anyone about
this your mother will die and then, of course they are afraid to say.
I find this a very sad part of my work.

we should be able to trust family friends to look after our children.

Wow, no wonder Bridget's so upset. I don't know Bridget's personal
history, but I do know that when someone has her diagnosis, it *always*
comes from abuse, usually very horrific abuse. So aside from feeling
the normal amount of rage and upset on behalf of her niece, this event
must be very triggering for her. Purrs for Bridget!

I hope this piece of sh*t gets a major prison sentence for this.

I'm so relieved that the family is dealing with it, rather than trying
to pretend it didn't happen, or blaming the child, and continuing to put
her in harm's way. I know *far* too many women who had that experience
when they were kids - being molested, trying to tell someone, and having
the person they tell get angry at *them*, accuse them of lying, turn their
backs and refuse to do anything about it, blame them for it, etc. Because
Bridget's niece is being believed, and is getting counseling, and because
the blame is so clearly being directed at the perpetrator, this doesn't
necessarily have to be the kind of soul-destroying trauma that it so often
is. She may always have some emotional pain about it, but it doesn't have
to wound her sense of self, the way it can when it's allowed to continue
with no hope of assistance. Hooray for her family!

Purrs for Bridget's niece, that she recover from this incident with the
knowledge that her family will protect her, and that the man who hurt her
will be punished.

I've heard that life expectancy for sex offenders, especially ones who
prey on children, is so low that they usually have to be put in
special housing to have a chance at surviving long enough to serve
their sentence.

Apparently, even burglars, robbers, drug dealers, etc., have social
standards.

I've talked to both guards and ex-cons. I've heard stories of guards saying
things like, "We're bringing Joe Blow into the rec room this afternoon. His
crime is this-and-this involving a child. We're going to a mandatory meeting
afterward." And those guards will turn their backs and let the fur fly. In
prison society, a child-predator is a true coward and lower than a snake's
belly, and the cons will not only beat the living sh*t out of them, the
guards let it happen. In this case, there is such a thing as honor among
thieves.

It sickens me that the predators end up with the special housing after such
crimes. After all these years when rape and chils molestation have come out
of the closet and into the newsrooms, the offenders still get off pretty
lightly. My friend's kids were molested and the guy did two three-year
sentences concurrently. The kids are in their twenties now: both high school
dropouts, one has developed low moral standards in terms of sex and the
other uses illegal drugs. This guy served three years. Now take the one
woman I heard about, who waited in the car while hew boyfriend went into a
shop. She thought he was getting burritos. he was buying cocaine. She got a
twenty year "Mandatory minimum!" there is something way wrong with our
justice system, because there is something way wrong with our standards.

Blessed be,
Baha

Mine too Victor!  If I live to be a million and one years old I will never
understand how some "people" can derive pleasure from inflicting pain on an
innocent - be it human child or fur baby.  Even though I suspect I will end
up there, I continue to hope that there is a hell just so "people" like this
get back what they dish out and so often get away with in this life.

Of course Yowie, thanks for letting us know. I'll be directing positive
thoughts towards Bridget today.

Words fail me.  So, what everybody else said, with many purrs and
prayers for the poor child, for her family, and for Bridget.  Gentle
hugs for all concerned.

I'm speechless. Lots of purrs and best wishes for Bridget's niece and hugs
for the rest of the family that is doing their best for her,

I've got assorted nail files and dull knives I'd be willing to lend or
utilize.

I hope the poor kid's getting counseling [likewise her parents.
They'll need it too]. I have a good idea what she's dealing with,
since my father was a pedophile.

<<<Seanette>>>  I know what you mean.  Purrs that you continue your
healing and don't make the mistakes many victims make.

Oh, I hope that piece of sh*t get prison time - even if it isn't for as long
as he deserves (which is the rest of his life), even a little would be great
because most child molesters don't last long among the other inmates once
it's learned what they're in for.

I'm so glad Bridget's niece had the courage to tell what happened - that
shows that the little girl is very strong and, with the support of her
family, she'll get through this.  We're sending purrs that the hurt goes
away quickly and that the scars heal completely.

Hugs,

This is terrible.  {{{{{Bridget's niece & family}}}}}}

I hope that justice is carried out in full measure, and that the
little girl gets all the help she needs to survive this horrendous
ordeal and be able to heal.  As a rape survivor (as an adult), I know
how deeply this cuts to the core of one's sense of self, and how
difficult it can be to feel okay about yourself again.  Many prayers
for Bridget's niece and her family that there one day be healing and
strength to walk with instead of the pain and fear I'm sure is there
at present.

Blessings,

Ginger-lyn

This has affected some of the people close to me. Purrs that the niece
is able to make a nice life for herself in spite of this.

Our most powerful purrs and prayers on the way for Bridget, her neice, and
her family.

And may the molester be quickly and harshly punished.

Survivor purrs for this child on the way! And a lot of prayer that this kid will
know it was not her fault, and that the SOB gets his in court. And if he gets
his in court, he'll get even more in jail. The guards are known to go on VERY
long breaks when such offenders are brought in...

Blessed be,
Baha

Extra loud, vibrating purrs on the way for Bridget, her niece and
everone in the family.  Lacey bares her teeth at the offender (and we
know how vicious Lacey's bites are).  Hugs and healing thoughts to
everyone as well.
