Buried deep in the many hundreds of bookmarks I have, I found a
*working* one which goes to a web page with a picture of Nikki, and an
audio file of her purring!

I vividly remember reading your great Frank and Nikki stories when I
first started lurking on RPCA, about 6 years ago.

I thought perhaps you might repost it in honor of Nikki, since her RB
anniversary is coming up?

Thanks for remembering my dear ones, Gandalf. The anniversary isn't
until the 22nd, but here is the link anyway.

It was Lori who kindly put up the sound file on her site. I'd like to
put it on Nikki's own page, now that she has one, but I don't know how
to do it. It's a .wav file.

So Nikki's RB anniversary is on the same day as Laku's (and my nephew's)
b-day 22 May. Not only bad things happen on that day.

Had my brother lived he would have been 47 on May 22. I'll be thinking of
him as well as Nikki and Laku on that day. :-(

Those were some purrs.
Nikki's purrs got Rusty's attention. He stared intently at my computer from
his
window perch.

I'm listening to it right now as I type. It's wonderful! I want to
put it on a CD and play it as I'm going to sleep. :)

Nikki was a small cat with an enormous purr. You could hear her from
across the room, or even from another room. Sometimes I would be on the
computer and there would suddenly be a loud purr from the floor beside
me, and I would look down and Nikki would sit there, squinting at me and
purring.

I'm so glad I managed to record that purr. I remember doing it. I held
her in my arms while scritching her, and tried to keep her face towards
the mike, but she was turning it this way and that in order to catch
scritches all over. That's why the sound fluctuates so much.

I'm playing the file loudly now, and Miranda and Caliban are very
interested and looking for the purring cat. Cal jumped into my arms and
started purring. Maybe he was trying to out-purr the interloper.

Her purr sounds a bit like Licky's. Maybe it's a tuxedo thing? :)

I like the fluctuations. There you are, relaxing to a soft, gentle
rumble, when suddenly PURR PURR PURR PURR! :) It's funny.

Roxy was on top of the monitor when I was playing it before, and I had
the sound up fairly loud. Didn't even see an ear twitch!

I wonder if M & C recognize that purr?

Well Caliban never met Nikki, but I was wondering too if Miranda
recognized it. Maybe she thought, 'oh no, that b*tch cat is back!'
(Nikki wasn't too nice to Miranda when she first moved in, but to my
surprise Nikki was the first to start playing with Mir. They had almost
become friends when Nikki passed. Only then did Frank and Miranda start
to become friends.)

LOL, I just looked at the Nikki picture, and Francesca, lying on my
bed, lifted her head STRAIGHT away and stared at my computer as soon as
it started purring  as if to say  "What's up with that thing? It's
PURRING!! I didn't know it could do that!"
