A trip to TED with him this afternoon wasn't encouraging, his kidneys
are very large.......an infection is unlikely as his temperature is
normal....he's booked in for blood tests and an x-ray tomorrow.

TED thinks it's either cancer or end stage renal failure...d*mn why
are cats so good at hiding stuff (rhetorical question, I don't need an
answer).

We'll be crossing our fingers and sending our best get-better purrs.

Thanks Dan, I've been sat in the garden with PB on my lap (he's been
*very* cuddly today) and I told him lots of kitties are sending
get-well purrs......his response was to send purrs back.  TED tried to
listen to his heart but gave up because all she could hear was a very
deep rumble, he was an absolute angel not a wriggle or a squirm even
when the thermometer was inserted 'where the sun don't shine'.

Thank you Karen, I've spent most of the afternoon cuddling him and
dripping tears on his shiny black fur. He's my best gardening buddy
and I oh so don't want to lose him.

You don't need an answer, but you and PB need lots of purrs and hugs.

Thanks Joy and ((((((Joy))))) backatcha.

For a feral cat he's such a sweet heart, he would always (untill the
last few days) bounce down the garden in the morning as soon as he saw
me up and about in the kitchen, wait patiently till I bought out his
breakfast and then supervise all my activities in the garden during
the day like hanging out the washing or tidying up the flowerbeds.

Lots of purrs for PB. Is it possible he injested any part of a lily?

Thanks Adrian, it's very unlikely with regards to the lily, PB has
never been a flower/plant nibbler he reserved his interest in
plants/gardening to giving me instructions on how to mow the lawn/clip
the edges and where would be the perfect spot to put plants (usually
by digging them up if he thought they were in the wrong place).

Purrs, purrs and purrs, coming for PB and his kidneys. Cats are
amazingly stoical, aren't they?  Sometimes, it would be SO useful if
they could articulate their health troubles in the early stages.

I hope the case is less dire than it appears right now.

They're so good at hiding illness because they don't want us to worry as
much as we tend to do.

Many purrs that TED is wrong in this case.

Purrs that it's neither and can be easily treated.

Many purrs for PB, from one who has had to deal with feline kidney
difficulties; and for you and your spirits, and for the vet, that he (she)
does the best for your little one.

Blessed be,

I was embarrassed to find I'd replied to this without noticing the update
when you'd had to say goodbye.  I'm sorry if I made it worse.  Dammit.
I know exactly what it's like.  I keep telling myself no more animals, I
don't want to go through losing them yet again, but what can you do when one
comes along desperate except take them in and suffer the consequences?

Yes, it's a rat, I see it. Boyfie: asleep.  KFC: asleep.  I run around with
a big stick and get the rat out by myself..

No need for embarrasment, and you didn't make it worse PB and I had
some time together even if it was only a few hours- hey it's quality
that counts not quantity. :-)

The other furbies were quite unsettled Thursday and Friday but today
Domino bought them to the house one by one for treats (Tuna) and
grooming (this was always PB's job). Tuffty and Chocky who just about
tolerate each other are layed (or should that be laid?) on the lawn
together and Chockys tail is draped over Tufftys neck....the group
dynamics have changed again..

Does that mean cats are like policemen, always asleep when you need
one?   :-)

(note: no offence to law enforcers on either side of the pond,
sleeping policemen is the name for traffic calming bumps in the road).
