Feline pine works really well, but with three cats instead of two I
seem to be constantly changing the litterbox and buying more of the
stuff! So when I went into the store to pick some more up today I
noticed the bag next to it 'World's Best Cat Litter' - it claims to be
flushable, self-clumping, nonsmelly, and made from biodegradable
corn. It also claims that with three cats using the box it should
still be good for at least ten days... well, we'll see about that!
The only thing that worries me is whether the girls are going to be
happy to use it... Silver has her own way of expressing distaste for a
litterbox - peeing on anything soft and absorbant she can find!
Tessie's already hopped in and sniffed and scratched and christened
the box, so we know she knows what it's for... Silly sniffed and
walked away, so can we have some purs for her to accept it?

Better than purrs, add some of the litter they are already used to using.

Great suggestion!

*delurk* if they like the pine, go and look at those pellets you put in a
stove, same thing without the smell, and so cheaper you won't believe it,
Lee *relurking, thinking she has auto boxes but would do this if they were
all manual

Purrs for acceptance. I bought a different brand of litter once shortly
after I was acquired by Persia and I still had a coupon for the stuff she
was used to. I'd set the coupon on top of the box of litter pan liners. I
went to clean the litter box one morning and she'd scooted the coupon over
and propped it up against the litter box. The tacit message was, "Mom, I
want THIS stuff again, okay?" LOL
Don't let anyone tell you cats can't read. This is the same cat who
differentiated between like-sized cans of Fancy Feast and chopped green
chili peppers and got one out of the pantry. Trust me, it wasn't the
chopped green chili's she scooted off the shelf :)

LOL! It's funny you should say this. MY RB lurcher, Trim, was an awful
food thief. Having been finally prevented from raiding the fridge she
turned to the food cupboard to get tins out. She never chose peach slices,
peas or carrots, only tins of stewed steak, ham or fish. Her jaws were
strong enough to open the cans, too. It seems hardly possibly that they
can smell meat through cans but it makes me wonder.
I realised why her previous owner had dumped her! but we lived together for
14 years with me being alert for her tricks.
