After disappearing for the winter (not being seen by us since Thanksgiving),
I was passing a window and looked out - there she was, strolling through the
yard!  I tapped on a window of the back porch (da tiled room, according to
Weeble), and she stopped dead in her tracks.  I started talking to her, like
I used to, and she hunkered down to watch.  Took some kibble out and just
set it on the back walk.  She watched, then warily approached, stopping
several times to check things out carefully.  Then she walked right *past*
the pile of food, and approached the door!  Not sure what she was doing that
for, so I took another handful of food out - she dashed a good 10-15 feet
away at the opening of the door - and made another pile so she wouldn't miss
it.  As soon as I closed the door again, I think her memory clicked in, and
she practically ran to one of the food piles and started chowing down
(almost before I had the door fully closed)

I just emailed the director of the humane association (hopefully, my future
boss), to see if she could arrange a trap for me to borrow, like I did just
before she disappeared in November.

I just wonder where that darned cat has been all these months!?!?!?

I just hope she's not pregnant again!  Purrs for successful trapping of the
MamaKat.

I was just thinking "Oy, she's probably pregnant."    Purrs for
nabbing that elusive matriarch!

She must be a crafty old girl to have survived winter on her own if your
winters are as bad*** as the ones here, poor old thing. She deserves
a good home for the rest of her life. Good luck.

She's so feral, I wouldn't want to try and home her - the closest I ever
came to her was about 4 feet, and only because A) I never looked her in her
eyes (pretended like she wasn't there, but still talked to her in a soothing
voice) B) I had food and C) I was walking *past* her to put the food in it's
"spot".  When I *did* look at her, she darted another 6 feet away.....  I
fear that whomever touches her will get bit, sliced and diced - ending up
with hands that look like cole-slaw!
