It looks like the move to St. Louis will run over the weekend, so I'll
be shutting down computers by mid-day today, taking a couple of days to
drive, and then setting things up again. I'm not sure if the local
cable provider has newsgroups, but I should be back early next week.
Ding and Rhonda are now in the cage, although Mr. Clark hasn't put in
an appearance. While they won't like it, I'll put them in it while
packers/movers are here, then either leave them in it overnight, or let
them out in a confined room, with the cage. It's one extra caged
night, but I won't have to worry about escapes.
Everybody, I'm sure, will be sick of cars/cages by Sunday night, when
we hopefully all get out.

Howard, if they don't, there are a number of news-servers
out there, some of them free, the others fairly inexpensive.
(Newsguy charges me about $30 a year, but there are
others.)If all else fails, there's a way of accessing Usenet
through Google, but it's not as satisfactory (to readers,
anyway) as posting with a news-server.

You're so right re the Google/Usenet rpca viewing...that's
how I get it while staying at relatives who don't have/use
ng's at all...
Best of luck w/move, Howard, and one further word of
experienced advice...no matter how worried you are about
comfort/happiness of your 3 loves ones in their traveling
cage, think twice about even letting them out on the road
for any reason. Years ago, my family and I spent 3 hours
trekking around a huge truckstop outside of Needles, CA
when on our cross-country trip back to FL....one of our
3 cats had slipped out of his harness and disappeared into
the darkness of where we parked, in the midst of "purring"
huge semi's (it was hot and a/c's were going for their
snoozing drivers inside).......the truckers inside eating were
watching our hikes nearby, probably thinking it hilarious,
but I'm sure they must've seen stranger things in their
travels. We finally found our cat, makeshift collar intact,
glaring out at us from top of wheel well of a nearby semi.
My son, a child then, proclaimed, "I knew we wouldn't
leave till we found him!" True, but most annoying in the
middle of the night.....LOL.

I'll second this ... a friend of mine lost his kitten on a road trip
and *never* found her.
