Most of you know Persia has taken to tapping or gently touching my nose or
face when she wants me to wake up.  It's turned into a sort of a game.  As I
slowly wake up after she touches my face, I reach out and touch hers.  Then
I close my eyes again.  She does it again; I do it again.  Apparently I
wasn't moving fast enough this morning.  I got the equivalent of a kitty
*shove* on my chin!  Her fingers were splayed; I could feel the pads
separated on my chin and she pushed hard!  I thought, hey!  You know I
always get up!  You know I feed you!  Cut out the rough stuff!

I didn't declaw her; she came that way.  Can they splay out their paws like
that and still have their claws retracted?

Patty paws!  I love patty paws, with claws and without.
When I was little, we had a declawed cat, and he made the same
extension (and kneaded, too) as if he still had claws.  He also used
to ball his little paw up into a surprisingly hard little fist, and
poke us with it!  ;)

She kneads me on my side almost every night before curling up next to me.
I'm sure if she had claws and it was on bare skin it would probably hurt but
she does it through a blanket and a sheet :)  That fist thing is funny!  I
sort of felt like she was giving me a right hook this morning when she
shoved on my chin like that!

Our Wolfie came to us declawed, too.  He has never seemed to feel he
was disabled in any way.  He splays, he "scratches", he bats and pats
and smacks, and I've even seen him shimmy up the cat tree a few times
(how, I don't know!).

Snoopy's claws come out when she does that, usually she's very gentle but
occasionally she'll catch my lip with a very sharp claw, then it bleeds
quite a lot. A small amount of discomfort is worth it as long as she's
happy. <g>

I've seen Fritzie spread his toes out completely, without the manicure coming
out.

I had lived in some pretty nasty places before buying a house. None of the
apartments had air conditioning; for a long time I scraped and couldn't afford
the luxury of cool surroundings. the house came with two air conditioners. About
two months after moving in, the climate became quite steamy, and before going to
work we turned on the air. When Louie and I came home, we found Fritzie directly
beneath the air conditioner in the living room, stretched to maximize the
air-to-body ratio. He was a big cat to begin with. I had no idea he could get so
LONG! And to top it off, he was purring like a madman, and was lifting his paws
to the breeze with his toes spread fully out to cool himself between the pads.
He looked at us as if to say, "Where the Sam Hill have you been keeping this
contraption all my life?!" and let out a loud, drawling MRRROWWWWRRR, the sound
a two-leg might make on a beach in an island paradise, being served a mai-tai by
a hunky waiter in a bow-tie, Speedos, and a smile.

Blessed be,
Baha

What a great word picture you drew!  I could almost hear the purring!
Very neat.

Know what you mean. My last place did not have AC, and this one does.
Mostly cause I put em in the window myself.

How's the one upstairs doing for you? Or did you take it out, for
winter?

nose, yowl in the ear or a single claw tip into the nose.  Of  course once
he does this and Daddy  is climbing down from the ceiling fan He gives me
