I met his royal orangeness! Britta took me with her to visit him in the
quarantine station just south of Purrth, where he's staying for another
2 weeks yet.
He is of course very handsome, and his coat is a very unusual pretty
colour. For those who haven't seen his photos, he's a very pale orange
colour, like peaches with cream on. I don't think his online pictures
really do his unusual colouring justice. He's a sweet friendly little
fellow who loves to cuddle and purr.
The quarantine "cells" are quite small in floor area, but very tall,
with kitty sized zigzag ramps leading up to a high sheltered platform
which stands up above the building's main roof level. Someone who knows
and loves kitties really put some thought into the design. We wandered
along the row of enclosures saying hi to the other inmates, and I think
at least half were up on the high platforms. Unfortunately poor Vino
doesn't seem quite sure what to do with a ramp, so he's missing out
rather. Britta even tried standing on a chair to put him up on the
platform, but he still wouldn't use the ramp to get himself down. Poor
confused puss.
I got to play footsie under the door with several of the other cats in
stir. I have a real crush on a little white shorthair named, er...
Sausage. Can't figure that one out, but it didn't seem to worry her! She
was so gentle with her paws that I had to check if she'd been declawed.
Thankfully not - she had a beautiful complete set of nails there, she
just didn't use them at all while she was playing with me. I was so
tempted to smuggle her out in my backpack!

Oh, I'm envious - you got to meet Mr. Handsome! Two more weeks? I'll
bet the time is going by slowly for the poor boy. And for Britta and
Dennis too. Was Dennis around, BTW? How are they liking their new digs?
Hey Britta, log on and say hi!! :)

Britta would love to log on but her phone line and internet connection
won't be on for another 2 weeks yet. I'm sure she'll fill you all in
once that happens. Dennis is still in Burma at the moment working, but I
understand he's meant to arrive right around the time Vino gets out of
stir. Should be a nice big family reunion, eh?
Britta showed me a couple of photos of the inside of their rental house
- it looks nice to me, but is empty at the moment except for a fridge
and air mattress. Last time I spoke to her, their furniture container
had arrived in port but hadn't gone through customs yet.

I'm so glad you posted this, I've been thinking about Britta and Vino. I
envy you meeting Vino and his inmates. I imagine when Britta is able to post
again we'll have a flood of thing s to read, I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks again for the update, I hope your modem keeps working now.

I'm so jealous! I love Vino even though I've only seen pictures and read
his adventures. :)

We do get so attached to each other's masters around here. There are
so many cats I may never see, but I feel like they are friends. When
one is in trouble, it really does hurt and worry us. I was so glad to
hear Vino and his funny little butt are doing well. ;)

Sounds like you had a great visit! I'm hoping now that Britta and Dennis
will be so near that one day I will be lucky enough to meet Vino! And maybe
even Britta and Dennis *grin*

Hi Kathryn
Do I remember rightly that you're somewhere in the Perth metro area? SOR
like me maybe? If that's right then I'm sure we can arrange an RPCA "we
met". Britta and Dennis will be living in Margaret River, but they'll
visit Perth pretty regularly due to Dennis' working overseas. I don't
want to speak for them, but I'd be surprised if they didn't want to be
in it :) My yahoo email address isn't munged - by all means contact me
there if you're interested.

Sounds fun! After posting this I had a dream that Britta, yourself and me
had a trip to Freo for lemonade! Why lemonade I'm not sure.
I'll send you an email.

It's wonderful that it's such a cat-conscious place. I didn't want to
think of Vino in jail.

Welcome back-- and hang-in-there purrs for Vino, Sausage, and all the
quarantine kitties. And their slaves, of course.

aw, you lucky duck. Glad to hear that Vino is being visited regularly. I
can't imagine putting any of my furbabies into quarantine, but I guess it
can't be helped. Give our love and skritches to Vino and Britta if you see
them again.

AWWWW is all I can say! We all love Vino the stubby tailed one :) Purrs
that he and Britta and Dennis all get reunited at one time and that they
enjoy their house in Perth.
