I was doing some research into finding a new streaming sound server,

That was also a timely link - I'm looking for a streaming server package
to install on my Solaris box and gnump3d looks promising.

I've had slimp3 installed for a while, but recently I've actually been
using it, and it seems to flake out a lot.  I'm hoping gnump3d is
better.
