Abelard's anguish is mine too

He wants something and has been trying to tell me about it for days. I don't
know what to do for him. He walks up to me and looks at me and cries
insistently. I know it's something "big" because he's using his voice
instead of breathing silent miaows.

Do we by any chance have a resident rpcs cat psychic? If so, we need your
service....

He probably wants to go outside.  He isn't used to being confined is he? and
now he is bored with it.

Could be, but I'm guessing it's something else, because when he makes these
pleas he hasn't once tried to lead me over to the door.

Probably something or some place he remembers from before the move.  He may
well think anything you disposed of is lost.

Monique, is that from your psychic side, or did you ask your favorite
psychic reader, or ... what?

(Just asking because of your prefacing "er" and also how on earth would
Abelard *know* if he has thyroid problems?)

Oh, um ... I thought I've read around here before that cats with
thyroid issues tend to start vocalizing more, so it might be a
symptom.

"Er" was supposed to convey, "I'm not really sure, but maybe it's ..."

OK.

For the time being, I'm holding out for some sort of a psychic response....

Maybe he's just playing a bastard cat trick by making you think
there's something wrong.

I've decided, for now, that he was trying to tell me "Hey, mom, I know you
got shrimpies in the freezer, so go get me some of those!"

I say this because I just gave him some of my fish, and he's fallen silent.

Could it just be spring?  Doc started his annual 'let me out' campaign a
couple of weeks ago.  (I'm quite deaf to it.)  He does it for about two
minutes in the morning, then goes to have a nap.  Campaigns are
exhausting, you know.

Rita gets like that, and I think it's because she wants her box cleaned.
After I have cleaned it, she's quite happy for at least a day. After
that, she gets progressively more and more insistent until I finally
cave in and find the time.  Then she's quiet again.
Yeah, if I cleaned every day she'd be very happy, but I don't always
have the time and/or ambition.

He might not be *anguished*, he just wants to go out.

That's what I thought too.
