In April of 1968 we saw Tom Jones perform in Las Vegas. Just before he
became more famous than his music.

Kay Ballard was the headline act, and he opened for her. His voice was a
wreck from the dry air, but he gave the performance everything he had.
Which was quite a lot in 1968.

My sister has never quite forgiven me. She was already a huge fan and I
don't think she has ever seen him perform.

I cannot imagine him a knight.

There's a local store here that does T-Shirt printing and the like. I
was in there one day getting some stuff ordered, when the girl behind
the counter said to me, "here... look at these". She then proceeded to
pull out a pair of womens panties with "I love Tom Jones" on the front.
Apparently some woman had come in and ordered them especially because
she was going to a Tom Jones concert. It still makes me giggle. Could
you imagine being rushed into ER in an ambulance and being undressed by
a doctor and you were wearing those knickers?
