I once had a kitty who would also play fetch. She run after a cattoy
and return it until I got tired of it.
Then as she got older, she'd just run after it without bringing it back.
Then as she got even older, she'd just look in the general direction
of the toy.
Then she'd just ignore the toy being tossed.
oh well..

When I was in my early teens, I had Tiggy (a foundling tabby) who would
chase and return a small ball. The ball was one I played "jacks" with.
He wasn't very pretty, but he was smart. MLB

Ha ha! That's the way Vino is going. He used to bring back balloons or
furry mice that I would throw. He still occasionally fetches them but most
of the time now he drops them half way back. I think he's getting lazier as
he gets older.

Sammy was headed that way, bringing back the first couple tosses and
then droping her bottle cap further and further away until I give up
on the game and stop throwing it. That's one thing I appreciate about
Spotty's introduction into the mix. Now that Sammy realises that
Spotty will appropiate the cap if it's dropped halfway, she brings it
all the way back. Of course this means Sam had to think of a new way
to tell me when she's getting tired of the game. So, now she RUNS to
get the cap, and brings it back slower and slower as she gets tired.
When she's ready to quit playing she just watches where I toss the cap
but doesn't chase it.

I used to think cat's didn't do fetch but both Fugazi (RB) and
Sarrasine have done it! Fugazi wasn't one for playing much but when she
wanted to she would bring her rope in for us to throw and Sarrasine
does this until we're completely worn out and she's still up for it!

Miranda fetches her rope toy and strings. I didn't have to teach her,
she learnt it herself. So did Nikki. She would fetch mousies. When she
was young we had a routine every evening, where she would bring her
mousie into bed for me, I'd throw it and she'd fetch it. Five-ten tosses
later, she would come to bed and curl up at my feet, purring contentedly.

None of mine fetch, but Mango loves to play 'soccer' with the jingly ball
his rpcc sekrit santa sent him (thanks sekrit santa!). He bats the ball
across the room, I go find it and bat it back, we do this all over the house
until one or both gets tired! It's especially fun with two jingly bells on
the go!!
