An appeal hotline (Australia, +61 1800 150 411) can accept donations by
credit card. Donations over $2 are tax deductable for Australians.
If anyone overseas wants to snail-mail a cheque, I can pass them onto the

That's a fund set up by the government, so it will be administrated by the
government, so it should be safe. The fund has 5.6 million in it so far, and
the largest donations have come from the qld government and some of the big
banks. I know that the federal government has put 1 million into the fund,
and given a further 40 million to the state government to help rebuilding. i
guess this will go to rebuilding farms and infrastructure, but it's being
administrated by the government so you should be ok!!
