Just testing...I've just installed Norton Internet Security and I
don't think it's letting my posts through...Anyone see them?

Yeappie      Norton's won't block your out going mail unless you don't allow
your email program to access the internet
you can find that out by open NIS click on status and settings than click on
personal firewall than click on configure  than in the tabs you will see a
program tab click on that and it will list all the programs that you have
block or allowed access to the internet  you can modify them from there

Depending on how experienced you are with NIS if you need any help ask I am
running NIS 2006 pro for corporate  there are quite a few settings to change
to give you max protection that are off by default

Thanks, Matthew....I can see them myself, now.  It popped up a window
saying something along the lines that NIS had "learned" my Agent
program.  I'm absolutely un-experienced with NIS.  So any tips you
have to offer would be gratefully accepted.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FUN go to the bathroom now this takes about 15
minutes to do

first open NIS
click on option on above tab  click on firewall click permit all in advance
security settings
click on the live update tab under these options make sure everything is set
to automatic  click ok

click on options tab again go to antivirus
everything in the middle should be on recommended  check mark scan within
compressed files
on the left side click on auto protect and expand it click on blood hound
check mark highest level of protection click on advanced everything should
be checked
now expand manual scan everything recommend should be checked  check mark
both scan within compressed files and scan active programs and startup
click on blood hound  set to highest
click on email and expanded it  (on the left side  again) all boxes should
be checked marked  I have ask me what to do  under how to respond to a virus
your choice   under advanced all should be checked
instant messenger you have to set that up with what ever type you have it
will walk you thru it
under live update  check mark everything recommended
under home page protection  your choice
under other click on security risk and expanded it  everything should be
checked marked  click on actions everything checked marked and set on
recommended
under miscellaneous  uncheck mark how to control access to option settings
unless you have a public computer and need something to protect
click ok

under options on above tab again click on antispam  Personally I have turned
off pain in the a.s for me having corporate emails and stuff come in your
choice easy to set up  if you do turn it on under filtering on the right
side click on it and uncheck mark  block email from anyone not in the
allowed list  you will never get email if you do click ok

ok this brings you back to the NIS box  on the left side you should have
highlighted Status and settings and in the middle of the page  a list of
options  click on personal firewall and than on the bottom left of the box
click on configure
turn on personal firewall if it is not already on  turn on learn
unrecognized programs  click on custom level below the slider the settings
should be
Personal firewall:  High block everything
Java applet : None allow  this is your choice you can get problems such as
virus if you are not careful
Active X :  None allow this is your choice you can get problems  such as
virus if you are not careful

Java and active x can cause problems if you are not sure I would have prompt
me each time but if you do allow them make sure you trust the site  and run
the virus scanner and spyware remover all the time
check mark both boxes on the bottom click ok

you are still under options for the firewall click on the tab for programs
turn on program control  this will take a bit depending on your speed on the
computer it will tell you what programs access the internet and you can
choose below to change the options  click ok  and it will bring you back to
NIS
click on intrusion prevention click on configure  go to the tab autoblock
change autoblock to 48 hours click ok
click  on privacy control click on custom level change private information
to High  and allow under cookie blocking  check mark both boxes  click ok
now it will bring you back to privacy control  you can add any private
information what ever you want by clicking on the private information box
and it will walk you thru it. click ok

Now back again to the NIS on the left side click on antivirus tab expanded
it  click on Scans  on the right bottom of the box is create custom scan
click on it a wizard box will come up click next click on add folders  add
what ever you need to it everything but cd, DVD or floppy drives make sure
you scroll up and down to make sure  click next under scan name call it FULL
SCAN click finish  you will see it on the left side on the NIS box now.

That should do it

Thanks!  I work with computers all day, but not PC's and I have very
little experience with network type stuff.
