Seven baby kittens!

I thought there were seven adult cats living with me, but I was wrong. They
are all just kittens, one big happy litter of playmates having the time of
their lives as indoor-only kitties. The floor is strewn with their little
toys, and the tiny tents from Sherry, once merely ignored or treated as
obstacles, are now collecting so much cat hair that they must be washed
every other day.

The only one having any Outdoor Withdrawal pains is Eli, who occasionally
wanders from window to window yowling and hurling himself at the glass.
Guess I'll have to get him a harness and leash so he stays sane until I'm
able to make the yard safe for the clowder.

Sounds really good, Pat! All the energy they used to spend outside
hunting for real is now expended in play inside. So glad they have
settled down. Purrs that Eli calms down, too.

That's good to hear! I remember you posting in the past that you didn't
think all or at least some of your cats could never live exclusively
indoors. Your experience shows that sometimes cats are more resilient
and adaptable then we think they are or will be.

Purrs that Eli settles down and becomes comfortable indoors asap - but
at his own pace so he doesn't get too stressed at the change.

Pffft! Just tell him to hush and toss a toy at him! You've got a happy
indoor bunch and that's the way it should stay now that you're in town. You
don't need to cat-proof the yard. The other six are proof they are happy
enough to be indoors and away from your (now) street.

Jill, can you imagine, if you had seven indoor cats, how much you would have
to spend on cat litter every week? It's beyond amazing how much litter this
bunch goes through, and my budget is strained enough as it is. As soon as I
can manage it, they are going to have an oversized sandbox out in a corner
of the yard, safely contained within an electrified fence. And they will be
able to eat grass and puke it back up - outdoors - to their hearts' content,
and be much healthier than if they were forced to stay inside continuously.

Okay, I concede litter and litterboxes would be unmanageable. But I still
don't like outdoor kitties where there are streets and dogs and mean people.
And Persia will remain an only cat. I do bless you for taking on such a
crew.

I'm so glad to hear your clowder are happy in their new home. :-) Have you
got the rest of your things from the farm? Did you ever get paid for the
heating oil you left?

The only thing I have to collect yet from the farm is the ex's old van,
which is stuffed with other things. Was going to do that Friday, then
Saturday, but I was too whacked out from sorrow over the loss of Gerda... No
time for it today (nor is the local tow truck available in case it won't
start) so I will go out as soon as I can. At least it's out of way where it
is parked now. We pulled it into the woods with the tractor last week.

As to the heating fuel, it's propane not oil, and L. has not paid me, nor
paid the supplier, who may by now have pulled off the regulator. They will
be crediting me with the same number of gallons plus the value of five
months' prepaid tank rental.
