You asked for a picture of Barnabus so I'm sending you one. I had bought a
butterfly chair for Hobbes many years ago and he eventually tired of it so
it was stored away in the closet. I realized Barnabus might enjoy it so I
brought it back out. Barnabus realized right away what he should do with
the chair. He wants me to tell you that it is small enough to pack in his
sailor bag and he can use it as a bed until he gets to your island and it is
plenty large enough for two cats to lie in and watch the stars and the waves
of the sea. If you'd like...then again maybe you'd rather he not come on the
voyage at all. But he's really looking forward to seeing you......that is if
you'd like to see him again.
He asked that I send you a picture of him in his chair so that you can see
there is room for you as well. You can find this picture at

Dear Barnabus,
That is a lovely picture of you and your chair. I see its colour would
match my fur purrfectly. And there's just enough room for two cats to
snuggle down... I'd love to go on the ship with you. Meowmie says we may
not go to the island this summer, if the bird flu comes to Finland with
the migrating birds. I told her I'm not afraid of a little flu, but she
says she doesn't want to take any risks with us. At first, I thought I
might not go on the Mouser this year, because it would be knd of sad
without Unka Frank, but if I can go with you, I'd feel much better.
I guess I'll have to take Caliban along. <sigh> Maybe the Cap'n will be
able to whip him into shape.
Yours,
Miranda

Barnabus zooms back and forth through the house, bapping Sammy and
Hobbes on his way past. He jumps on Lacey and tumbles her down the
hallway. All the time purring under his breath, "She loves me, she loves
me not, she loves me, she loves me not".
<ps from the hooman: I can't believe how horribly out of focus that
picture was. I'm terribly sorry and will try to post something better
soon> Julie - blaming it on the Ambien

Such a regal fellow. Love him.

Barnabus looks like his dander is up there. I used to have one of those!
Someone stole it out of my basement storage at the old place when I had put
it away for a while. What a cutie pie this guy is.

LOL! Barnabus *always* has his dander up - well, almost always. He's
either full on or full off, no in-between. He must have a little Grant
in him as well because last week when you mentioned that Grant would
come up and give you a headbutt I thought of Barnabus. He'll run and
run and run and run and then come up behind me and headbutt me hard
enough to push my head forward as if he's saying, "I love you, Mom",
then just throw himself behind my shoulders on the back of the couch and
fall into a deep sleep for about an hour. Once recharged he's off and
running again.
