Just when I thought Rusty has been doing pretty good in the past year,
something is not right with him. Recently he has been leaving puddles on
the floor. At first I thought the litter box was not to his liking and so I
scooped the box more oftern to at least once every day.
But again this morning I got a present on the floor right by his box.
I checked and the box was fine. He did use it since I scooped last night.
I am waiting for the clinic to open to call and make an appt. to see TED.
Rusty is due for his vaccination next month and I probably can have
that done also. Also need to consult with TED about switching to a less
pricey prscription food.
Purrs will be greatly appreciated. Rusty is going to be 12 in June and I
am dreading age related diseases.

Turned out Rusty's TED is on vacation and won't be back for 10 days.
Instead of seeing another TED, I chose to wait and got an appt. the day
TED is back on vacation. Of course if things get worse, I will see any TED
available, but I prefer Rusty's see someone who has known for the past 11
years.

Winnie, if he is peeing outside the box it is very possible he has a urinary
tract infection or other kidney trouble. It might not be safe to wait for
your vet to get back from vacation - he could become blocked, or at the very
least be in a *LOT* of pain (I know when I get a UTI I have to get something
*immediately* becuase the pain is really bad).

In the past, Rusty peed outside the box in the past for many various
reasons.
He does not look to be in pain. When he was blocked in the past, he kept
coming in and going out of the litter box. He is not doing that.
The last inappropraite urination was found to be behavioural and he was put
on an anti-depressent. He has been off that medication for a long time now.
The woman in the clinic who knows Rusty very well asked me some questions
and agreed we can wait till TED returned. The little pee puddle is right by
the
box, so she said it could be he rushed out of the box before he was
finished. I've seen him done that and wet the floor.
At the mean time, I will keep a close eye on him,
If the imappropriate peeing keeps up or get worse, I will take him to a vet
*immediately*.

After futher considerations, I decided to take Rusty in today to see the
subsititue
vet. He will have all Rusty's records as it is in the same clinic.
This way, I don't have to worry for the next 10 days and second guessing
myself. If it is a UTI or behaviour problem, it is better to get medication
early.

Thanks, I didn't mean to make you worry needlessly - it's just my mantra to
be safe rather than sorry, especially when you're dealing with creatures who
can't verbalize pain (and are so good at hiding it). You're a good meowmie!

Rusty is snoring on his cat bed while I worry about him. He looked up when
I sneezed as if to say I am too rude to wake up his feline highness. He
already became feline non gratis at a cat boarding place as his record
showed
inappropraite urination. I took him to the TED there last time his TED was
on vacation and he peed on the floor.

Thanks Susan. This morning CBC showed a beautiful picture of Calgary with
the chinook. I wish I can go to Calgary to see the upcoming figure skating
world championship. But I just came back from Vancouver last month and Rusty
won't like to jailed at TED again.
