Do any of your cats become possessed by evil during rain? Five of mine
(thank God cougar is quivering in fear under the couch) seem to have become
evil incarnate. Dilated pupils, looking at everyone as if we are all a
potential meal (frightening even from a kitten), using meowmie as a
springboard, deliberately trying to break stuff, arrrgggghh!!! The exorcist
is nothing on this lot!!

I don't know if it's the same thing, but Nina has been abducting my
dish sponge lately and leaving it in very weird places.

Lol!! mine have weird obsessions with plastic bags. Mango goes nuts when I
bring the shopping in; he doesn't know which bag to lick first!

Oh lord, I have to hide plastic bags from Nina, too!  It's so
bizarre--she LOVES them. I have to put them away immediately or she's
all over them.

Its so weird isn't it! You expect them to go for, well, the food in them,
but oooh plastic bags are SO much more interesting! We're having a big
cardboard box craze at the moment too.

I think it's the rustle of the plastic bags that drives them crazy.  My
hubby always leaves the bags on the floor when we come home from shopping
and I hear, rustle, rustle.  I run up, and take the bag away.  The kids look
so forlorn!  I try to explain that they can suffocate in the bags, but I
don't think they "get" it.

yes it's a worry! Mine likes to lick them..??? strange animal! But I let
them play with it supervised, then substitute with a box or paper bag.

Most of the local stores use a kind of soft smooth plastic for their
bags. A few use a harder kind that crinkles and rustles in a way that
Betsy finds irresistable. She licks them, rubs her face against them, and
rolls on them. I am very careful with these bags now since some years ago,
she managed to get her head stuck in the handle hole and panicked trying
to get it out again. I couldn't even pull it loose once I caught her; I
had to use a pair of scissors and very carefully cut the loop.

Mandy is completely indifferent to plastic bags of any kind.

Lol!! Yep we have the 'crunchy' kind! And I do get worried about
choking/smothering, so all my bags are tied in knots inside a 'bag' bag!!
(you know, the kind you have to shove your hand up, like playing midwife to
a cow)

It rains so much here in Britain that I suppose my cats are used to it.  It
rained all day Tuesday, most of Wednesday, some of yesterday and some of
today.
The only difference I notice in their behaviour is that they don't want to
go out so much, preferring to snuggle up in front of the fire or on the
spare bed.
Not very good advice to offer to an Australian, I know!  I guess if your
cats don't see rain too often it could be scary, especially if it's heavy
and they can hear it drumming on the house.  If they have dilated pupils
during the day, they are scared.

It's odd, as it's wet season and it rains daily, but yesterday they just
went nuts! Chasing each other all over the house, even cranky old Jasmine
was in on the fun! Cougar gets worried when they do that, so she hid, but
the rest of them went ballistic! It's probably warmer here when it rains
than where you are, it gets very humid and muggy. Maybe it's the humidity.
