I took Spooky to the vet today (an intestinal parasite problem) and
was informed that he has lost weight and teeth, and has a heart
problem. I think he's 14, the vet thought he was 5 when I first
brought him in for neutering, 13 years ago. I suspect he will be the
second of the three pre-move cats to go to the Rainbow Bridge.
Fluffy, the third, is definitely 14, but she still looks and acts
middle aged.

Purrs that Spooky has a nice, comfortable life until it's his time to cross
over to the bridge - whenever that may be.

I'm sorry to hear this Ted. May he be happy and comfortable for such a long
time that it surprises the vet!

Ted: Purrs for Spooky to merely have an intestinal parasite problem and some
teeth problems. My little dog Sampson was diagnosed with congestive heart
failure at age 13 and he lived another 5 with a good diet and much love.
Purrs for you and Spooky and I love your photos of your other cats with him
all piled together.

Lots of purrs and well wishes for Spooky to confound the experts and live a
long time. Miss Tanada, our Grouchy Old Womancat will be 14 this fall.
She's had her ups and downs lately, but is still going strong. .

Ted, I'm so sorry to hear this. You never know, though. Our Internet
is 17 this month (our and others' guesses, since we don't really
know), has asthma, an enlarged heart, and no teeth, but he is still
with us. Purrs that Spooky is better than you are afraid and will be
with you for a good long while yet, and Fluffy, too.

I'm almost afraid he's going to die of stress while being pilled for
the parasites. He won't touch the pills if crushed up and mixed with
tuna or canned cat food, so that means a nightly struggle to force
them down him - this is more stress and struggle than anything else in
his life right now, and he's a very nervous cat to begin with.

I'm hoping that with luck, he'll do his best to get totally well so that he
can get back at you by peeing in your shoes.

He has never done anything like that - throwing up on the bed, yes he
does do that.
I got the pills down him with less struggle last night: I found that
if I hold him up, the pills go down easily ... once I get them into
the back of his mouth. It's still hard on him though. He's going to
get hard to catch in another couple of days. Harder to catch.

Lots and lots of purrs and best wishes that Spooky stays with you for a
long time still and that his health problems bother him as little as
possible,
