I am convinced Teti has a lot of humour, at least when it comes to rough
playing. When I pick him up, holding him a few centimeters from the the
floor, swirling him around 360 degrees, he usually gives out a high pitched
sound, sounding like "Eeeep". I put him down on the floor again, and he
comes back, with his tail raised, asking me to do it again. He will repeat
this many times, and when _I_ get tired, he jumps into my lap, demanding
cuddles.
But it is this 'Eeeep' sound... I interprete it as laughter. Recently, I
read an article about dogs behaving the same way, uttering the same kind of
sounds when they play. The author of the article called it laughter... And I
beleive it's true.
Anyone of you out there having the same experiences and thoughts about it?

I have never heard this, but think it is adorable.

Isis(RB) used to do something like that. She'd want Dave to lift her up
as high as he could and then he'd swing her round really fast and
downwards. He called it "Flying lessons" and at those words she'd run
up and demand he do it for her.
She also used to like sitting on the computer chair and being spun but
only in a clock-wise direction!
Speedy Joe (RB) used to play practical jokes. For example if he'd been
left in the kitchen and had trashed the joint when the door was opened
he'd shoot past us but if he'd been good he'd saunter our as if to say
"I was good now feed me". But sometimes he would bolt past as if his
tail was on fire but nothing appeared to have been done and we would
look everywhere for damage only to look round and find him watching
us...and anyone who says cats can't grin never saw his face!

Awww, that's adorable. It's funny the things cats choose to learn and
remember.

If you moved to the southern hemisphere, would she want to be spun in
a counter-clockwise direction? :)
My cats (Roxy and Licky) love to be spun in my computer chair too, and
they don't care which direction - they will even tolerate my changing
the direction after I've been spinning them one way.

My male tortie, Bracken, is a very playful soul, and his most favourite
toy is a dangly thing on a stick with feathers and beads on. When he
sees one of us pick up the toy, or if he even hears the beads clattering
together if he's in another room, he comes trotting in very fast and
gives a trilling "brrrrrp!!" sound which is pure excitement! Sometimes
we also get a "meeep!" if he's extra full of anticipation. He also
makess this sound if he suddenly sees one of the other cats, especially
Willow who's his mother-substitute ;-) It's incredibly sweet.

I don't know about sounds directly analagous to laughter, I have no
doubts that my guys have great senses of humor and fun. I think that
their taste definitely runs to slapstick, but hey, who said they had
to be Oscar Wilde? ;)
And yes, I have done totally ridiculous things to them while
playing, and they came right back to me, like Teti, wanting to do it
again.
Anybody who has seen one cat sneak up on another in the litterbox has
got to know that they have senses of humor. Three Stooges humor, but
humor. ;)
