Miss Pua's bump

kilikini - 05 Mar 2006 10:24 GMT I've felt it before, but I finally figured out what it is! When Pua lays a certain way on her side, I can feel a rib stick out. I think she's been kicked before. It explains why she runs when she hears loud voices or if I say "no" when she's being boisterous, she flees under the bed.
It's healed, it doesn't inhibit her in any way, so she's okay, but it helps give me an idea of what her background was before she found me and it may explain why she was in such poor condition when she found me.
She's one of the sweetest kitties I have ever had. I can't believe some idiot abused her. She's okay now, though, and she's really learning to trust us. She's happy here and that's what counts.

She can finally find peace; permanent peace.

I totally agree with you. I wish you could meet this sweet little girl. I absolutely adore her.

Biskit is still like that, running at noises or loud voices, she even runs from me if I have something in my hand like a flyswat or broom. I know she was abused before. Months after we got her, a hard knot came up on her side and it turned out to be an imbedded BB pellet. Sherry

Gosh, it's been since mid August 2005 when she found us! Her funny little quirk is her adiction to fresh water. We have this morning thing. I get up to make my husband coffee in the morning and she starts crying for water when she hears the tap in the sink go on. I have to accomodate her first before I finish my hubby's coffee. Tell me who's being trained here? <g>

Jasmine has a permanent kink in her tail, and slightly lumpy nose....I hate to think how they happened. Her kittens are so spoilt and unaware of hoomins being anything but nice fud giving slaves. I have been happy to give them a good kittenhood, as has Jasmine (she spoils them rotten, she's such a good mum) as if we are both making up for her having a hard life before finding us.

Miss Pua just smiles and smiles. (Anyone who says cats don't smile is absolutely foolish.) I really think she's happy here; at least I hope she is. :~)

Jasmine does the whole Royal Snob I will Accept your adoration with Disdain thing, but she's a big softy, and she's my nurse when I'm sick! Just after she came to us, we had to move, and a cat carrier couldn't be found for love or money in our town, so she travelled nearly 2000 kms on my lap. She wnt walkies on a leash every three hours, and lets just say I have never got the white cat fur totally out of the car since!! We went from minus 0 deg celsius temperatures to 24 deg in two days, so she shed fur like anything!!

Sandy - 06 Mar 2006 04:12 GMT I wonder if that's what I feel on Rebecca sometimes. I don't know what happened to her, but when we found each other she had a missing eye, missing teeth, and a damaged shoulder on her right side. Lately I've noticed that something sticks out on her side when I pet her. She gets along OK, though, and never seems to be in pain. The vet did warn me that her shoulder might be more prone to arthritis when she gets older.

I've heard about this kind of incident before and it just breaks my heart.
How is Rebecca with you? Is she trusting? How long have you had her now?

Sandy - 06 Mar 2006 09:21 GMT > Could be, Sandy, but I'd be willing to bet that with Rebecca she was > tossed [quoted text clipped - 4 lines] > > kili You could be right; I'll never know for sure. I've had her almost 5 years, and they estimated her age at 2 when I adopted her.
She trusts me more and more all the time, but still not completely. I know it may never be completely, but I take what I can get. I take things at her speed, except when I have to pick her up to go to the vet (only once for a problem, thank goodness -- she's very healthy). In our early days together, she was OK being petted on her back, but not on her head or legs. Over time she has gotten to like having her neck and the top of her head skritched, and I can stroke her legs and gently take hold of her paws for a couple of seconds at a time. (One day I'd like to be able to trim her claws, but I won't do it if it means a struggle.) She no longer scurries out of the way every time I walk by her, and she actually comes over to me for attention sometimes.
