A Sylvester moment

I was printing a few pages last night and Smokey jumped up on the desk to
watch the pages come out of the printer. Her eyes were big as saucers. But
this is quite an improvement for Smoke, who used to run out of the room when
the printer started.

Then I made the mistake of trying to pet her while she was intently watching
the printer. She jumped straight up. I half expected her to be hanging from
the ceiling, ala Sylvester. I got the dirtiest look when she came back down.

My guys love the printer.  Dante likes to sit on it while the paper
comes out.

I always feel so bad when that happens, but also find it funny.

Count yourself lucky.  Pi always wants to get in on printing action; the
printer is probably the only thing in the world (other than Doc and me)
that he's not afraid of.

So when he hears it start up, he comes running, and tries to catch the
paper going into the printer, and bats the paper coming out of the
printer, and just generally makes a nuisance of himself.  If I stop him
from both of those pursuits, he tries to chew the paper.

At first I thought it was cute.  :-p

Okay, I still think it's cute, but it sure does waste a lot of paper and
ink.

In science, 'fact' can only mean 'confirmed to such a degree that it
would be perverse to withhold provisional assent.' I suppose that apples
might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal
time in physics classrooms.
