meee - 03 Mar 2006 03:29 GMT Thanks to everyone who answered my post; I was just being a silly meowmie as it was just the penicillin shot giving her an achey leg. Oh, and my thieving little siamese Mango just tried to nick my diamond eternity ring!! And nearly got away with it!!! they're very dexterous with paws and jaws i've noticed....
Sandy - 03 Mar 2006 04:30 GMT I can relate. At the dentist yesterday the anaesthetic just wasn't working well for me and they ended up giving me about 10 shots before I was numb enough. They warned me that the actual work they were doing wouldn't leave me sore, but that the shots would. Boy, were they right! Fortunately, ibuprofen helps a lot and it's not as bad as it was yesterday.

Thanks, it's getting better. If you can believe it, this dentist gives their patients freshly-baked cookies when they visit! Of course, this time I had to wait a few hours until my mouth had enough feeling to eat them!

I wish I could remember this dentists name... he gave painless shots. I've always been terrified of shots in my gums; they HURT! But then again I had teeth pulled to prepare me for braces and they let the anesthetic wear off before they yanked my teeth, so OUCH.
Anyway, this dentist knew how to give shots so you didn't feel it and he actually took me into another patients exam room and had me explain to him it didn't hurt! How weird is that? But the guy agreed to have a shot after I talked to him. Odd.
What *really* hurt was having all those shots to go overseas. Particularly the cholera shot (required every six months while in Thailand). My arm ached for 3 days afterwards!

At least I hope you're being funny! The crowns are for my teeth, the damage is for my wallet to the tune of about £80 per tooth and several people are surprised it's that cheap!

My brother Scott, bless him, paid $33,000 USD (that's close to 19,000 GBP) to have all of his teeth pulled and replaced with implants. The entire process took about a year and I shuttled him back and forth and also cooked "soft" foods for him and collected "soft" recipes throughout the process. All I can say is OUCH and I'd have been really sick of dishes prepared using mashed potatoes. LOL

Did he have insurance pay for any of that? Did he do it because all his teeth were really bad?

He was paying out of pocket at least $1000 a year *with* dental insurance on fillings, crowns, etc. He was about 42 at the time he had this done; he said he was entirely too young for dentures. He took out a bank loan, borrowed against his 401(k) and my parents gave him $5000 towards the cost. I still think it was a rather drastic measure. And he bit down on something hard last month and one of them broke.

It has a life-long guarantee, but I don't want to go through this procedure all over again. Though maybe they wouldn't have to put in new screws if the implant broke, maybe they could just fasten a new implant to the old screws. Unless the screws break.
Yeah, getting to know all about soft foods. And this goes on until August. Grrr.

>Slave of the Fabulous Furballs That's *VERY* cheap. I haven't gotten crowns on three teeth that need them because they told me they would be $600+ *each*!

Fortunately he usually spews up stupid stuff he swallows (I do my best, but the little bugger has weird tastes) so I just feed him furball food, make sure he has an oily diet (bit of olive/sesame oil every so often) and hope for the best. He might grow out of it...I hope...

Yeah - my new little cat, Cendrillon, manages to open the sliding wardrobe door that has always defeated Melisande! (Who needs opposable thumbs, except for opening catfood cans?)

Oh, and my [quoted text clipped - 5 lines] > door that has always defeated Melisande! (Who needs opposable thumbs, > except for opening catfood cans?) LOL!! Yup, Garfield and Moe take turns every morning, jumping up and swinging from the door handle to try and open the door of their room. Lucky it's round....they just slide right off!!

My former voice-teacher had a Great Dane who could open those, too! (She'd just clamp her jaws on the knob and turn.) If they wanted to keep the dog out of anyplace, they had to be sure there was a latch on the door, and it was fastened!

:) thankyou !! She is now making a big fuss over how sore she is, and stealing the best seats in the house!! She does seem less grumpy though, so hopefully she'll go back to being 'sweet Jasmine' instead of 'Evil Jasmine'....
