I haven't read the link. If the dog threatens you, he obviously does not
recognise you as a friend, so that's what you have to become. Providing he
is the other side of a fence! when he barks and growls in your face speak to
him quietly and kindly. An aggressive dog is afraid, really. Just say
something like "hey, what's the matter, boy?" and throw him a little treat.
Invest in a packet of dog biscuits. It won't take many days until he will
cease to see you as an enemy and will be coming out looking for his biscuit.
Not long after that he will wag his tail at you.
