Your Smokey stories break my heart. He must be SUCH a love.

Oscar is proud of her ability to wake me up in the middle of the night
by knocking things off of other things.

I can tell because she then jumps up on the bed and purrs at me in a
particularly smug and self-satisfied way.

Molly is quite proud that she can and had taken complete and good care of
herself and her three kittens in the first year and a half of her life.
That said she is also house proud now.  And most delighted to be worshiped
by three fitting high priests, the good looking young grandsons.  Though she
gets a little confused as to who is suposed to be worshiping whom.

Jake is proud that HE sleeps on the bed.  And gets shrimp.  And scritches.
And can whup the dog in a fair fight.

"Mine gots a couch in it."

Fine.   Smokey's proud of crying his way into the hearts of people with
a home with a couch.

"Plus this place gots food, too."

_Bam-Bam_ is proud of how much bigger he is than his littermates
_Barney_ is proud of stripey spots (and how trim and skinny he is, no matter
how much he eats)
_Betty_ is proud of her Big Kitty Fangs that are coming in (her brothers
still have baby-teeth)
_Ernie_ is proud at how he asks (begs, in his squeaky,
too-small-for-such-a-big-kitty voice) for the tub faucet to be turned on
_Lizzie_ is proud because she's the Queen of the House
_Mimi_ is proud of her sweet Boyfriend (and of how her belly jiggles when
she chases the red dot - and is now asking why *she* can't have 6 lbs of
chicken a day).  And the Mickey Mouse symbol on her butt.
_Missy_ is proud of how she begs for tastes when da hoomins eat, and how she
wormed her way into the house, and her orange paw
_Moe_ is proud of her spotty nose, and of her flippy-head tricks, and of
fetching bottle caps
_Ping_ is proud of his singing voice (American Idol would have booted him
out though), and of his tail (he's always parading around the house with his
tail held up and forward so far, the tip almost touches the back of his
head - or maybe he's just showing off his... erm, nether regions?)
_Smokey_ is proud of the amount and size of the hairballs she urks up,
especially when da dum hoomins step in it in their bare feet (a rarity now
that Max the D-pet is around - he seems to *like* cat puke - ew), and that
she can *still* eat dry kibble, even though she has hardly any teeth left
_Tennessee_ is proud of his appetite (to look at him, you'd think *he* ate 6
lbs of chicken a day)
_Weeble_ is proud of His Preshus Persia, and of his bunnysoft-shineyblack
fur, and his curly tail (it's almost prehensile, the way he curls it)

and to add Max, the D-pet - he's proud of how loudly he snores when napping
on the sofa

Vino is proud of being the puppetmaster.  The things he's gotten his
slaves to do for him and the money they are spending on him is
extraordinary!
Also, he is proud of being a world traveller.  Soon, he will have lived
on 3 continents.

Yeah, I think Doc feels this way.  He's also proud of being able to help
me answer the phone.  (When I have to put the phone down, he purrs into
it, his version of hold music.)

He's also proud of his virile physique.  When he wants to pose, he goes
to the human-eye-high scratching post and shows it off.  

Pi is proud of his ability to nudge Doc out of the warmest place to
snooze.  

Chak

Persia is proud she didn't back down when I tried to chase her away from my
patio door.  She picked her human and that was that.  No ifs, ands or buts
about it.  She took over my bed the very first night, even though she was
still testing the waters.  She didn't even mind me buying el-cheapo cat food
(Meow Mix).  Before I knew what hit me, I was buying her toys and furniture
and a kitty fountain and more expensive cat food... and when the vet told me
she needed prescription food after her bladder surgery, I won a year's
supply of the stuff.  What more can I say?  I fell totally in love with this
pretty grey girl and she's proud she was able to win me over in just a few
days.

I guess Sundance is proud that he keeps track of everything that comes into
the house.  He is the Chief Inspectagator of Everything, Especially Food,
and he has to check out every new thing.

I think Rebecca is proud that she can flatten paper bags, and that she makes
sure the TV remote stays on the floor.

Sandy

Both Miranda and Caliban cost €60, so there's no competition there.

But Miranda is proud of her silken fur and specially her loooooong tail,
and her long slender legs. She is always striking beautiful poses where
she can show off how graceful she is.

Caliban is proud of his spotty tummy. Whenever I've been out, the minute
I walk in the door, he rushes to meet me, throws himself down at my feet
and rolls over to show me he's still got that spotty, rounded tummy (and
he needs more food to fill it).

Will is proud of his savoir faire.  He likes being able to
understand human rules and avoid any expressions of
disappointment or recrimination.

Heidi is proud of her long hair and a little vain about her lacy
pantalettes and sexy black stockings.

Fudge is proud of her fluffy tail which she can delicately drape into
any hoomin food with sauce.  She is also proud of having trained her
hoomins to let her drape herself around their shoulders to be carried.

Caramel is proud of her loud voice which she uses to request attention.
She's also proud of her ability to sleep anywhere (no matter how
uncomfortable it looks).

Meg is proud of her single black whisker (among the white ones), of
being a ginger female and of being allowed to sleep under the covers
between her hoomins.

And I am proud of all three of them, I feel lucky to have such lovely
girls :)

Arthur:  "I'm proud of my amazing shoulder-sitting ability.  And the
fact that I'm the prettiest, smartest, most-loved cat in this
menagerie!"

Jack:  "I'm proud of the fact that I can play with all the 20,000 toys
in here, even though mommy says "THAT's NOT A TOY!"

Kate:  "I'm proud that I'm cute, cuddly sweet girl-cat, unlike another
one I could name.  Hmph!"

Mr. Clark is proud for his ability to take care of all four- and
two-legged people that come within his range. He has been very
attentive to my trouble sleeping, and, today, he decided to remind me
to take pills by stretching out his considerable body next to them.

Rhonda is proud of her beauty, charm, and humility.  Nevertheless, she
recognizes there is a time to give great attention to the hoomin,
especially in beard grooming.  She also likes her ability to engage in
phone conversations.

Ding, much of the time, is confused. Nevertheless, he must be proud of
his ability to fling himself onto his back and make it utterly clear
that Life As We Know It will stop if his belly is not scratched.  He is
also proud of being Mr. Clark's protege.
