I was thinking they can't be Russian Blues, with those round faces and
golden eyes (RBs are supposed to have green eyes), but I'd never hard of
Chartreux. But then I don't really know anything about cat hreeds, just
happen to live with a Russian Blue. :o)

You're right, Marina; RB's do have green eyes in general. There is yet
another breed same color but leaner, not as jowly, as RB's...called
Korat cat. Pretty rare; I've only seen a couple at cat shows in past.
Korats' heads are more triangular (like 3-point headed Siamese);
again heart-shaped faces. Back in the 90's I used to take an older
relative (now RB) to all cat shows in our area, most of which
had a HHP separate judging, including the now defunct "Morris"
Award. She always had at least one entry in this class, and I
wandered around talking to different pedigreed breeders and
checking out their entries. It seemed to me that Persian cats
really enjoy the rapid, concentrated grooming efforts of their
slaves, and are totally at ease with judges "stretching" them out
and pawing through their fur on the stand. I entered my Oriental
Shorthair (Siamese related) just once and he was so freaked
out by the noise and crowds I never did it again (he did win
Best in his class that day)...I had all I could do to keep ahold
of him during trips to the judging stand. Talk about high-strung.
But all the cats were beautiful in their varied ways.

Oh, OK! When I saw the title, "Chartreux kittens", I just thought that
was the name of the cattery. Didn't realize it was the breed name. I
haven't heard of that breed before.
Actually, when I *first* saw that title, I read it as "Chartreuse
kittens" and that worried me! :)

And although I knew it was a breed of cat, I didn't know
they were grey - I was expecting fur of a pale yellow (maybe
even slightly greenish) to fit the name (which must refer to
a place, not the liqueur).
