Since there has been some dear losses in this group I thought I'd share some
joy.  My friend's cat had 9 kittens 4 days ago.  I went over there yesterday
to see the babies.  Here's a link to my Yahoo photo album of Spaz and her
kits.

The itty bitty bits!

I hope Spaz has enough milk to feed 9 bitties!  Your friend might need
to supply formula to take up the slack.

Nope, this isn't her first litter; she's fine.  She's a great mommy.

Not her first litter!!?  Why is she not spayed?

Sorry, I stayed my hand from responding to the first post about the kittens
(cute, BTW) in a world that has too many kittens without homes - but finding
out this wasn't a first litter was too much!

Spaz is getting spayed after this litter.  Her meowmie is a single mom, 2
kids, without a vehicle, and she rescued Spaz who was a terribly skinny
stray begging for a home.  The closest non-kill place that works with
low-income people who take on needy pets is an hour away.  My husband and I
would help take her and Spaz into the facility if we could, but they only
take animals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and my husband's working.  I don't
have a vehicle, either, so I can't help.  Her neighbor has said he'll take
her to the Pet Love center when Spaz weans the babies.  It's all good.

Spaz's first litter resulted in only 3 kittens and my friend's neighbors
took them all.  The kittens found excellent forever homes and are indoor,
healthy, happy cats.  My friend's children still go over to the neighbors'
houses and play with them.  Hopefully we'll find homes for these kittens as
well.

My friend is, if I can coin another friend's phrase, is peddling as fast as
she can.  :~)

BTDT.  Sorry, didn't mean to jump down your throat, but this is a hot button
for me - I have several neighbors who allow their unfixed cats to roam,
having litter after litter of very short-lived kittens, and it's
heartbreaking to me.

Nah, it's not like that, it's more of a can't-be-helped ordeal.  Spaz would
have died if Christal hadn't taken her on, initially.  It's been difficult,
and Spaz is, for the most part, an indoor cat.  Thing is, Spaz slipped out
and got herself preggers again.  She was in heat and Christal's daughter had
the door open for about 20 seconds too long.  We're really trying to "fix"
(no pun intended) the situation.

That'll do it, LOL. Them's some strong drives, there! :)

Glad she found someone to help bring Spaz in for spaying.

A friend of mine had a cat who went roaming for a mate when her litter
was 7 days old. Sadly while she was out someone kicked her to death (He
told his kids that she'd been hit by a car but he says she was kicked)
and left 6 little bitties with no mum (Never mind the heartbroken
little boy whose cat she was)... All credit to him that he hand reared
them and 5 made it to adulthood and they are all now happily in
foreverhomes
