On the doorstep

Fed Waffles and she's meowed to go outside. So I open the front door and
what do we find sitting right in the middle of the doorstep? A huge green
frog. Froggie is perfectly at ease, just sitting there... staring...Waffles
sniffs Froggie, and Froggie is not bothered. Neither is Waffles who runs off
to her spot in the garden where she 'performs'.

As Froggie is located in an accidental squash zone from the feet of the
local postie, I pick up Froggie, who just sits in my hand and stares at me
and I put him in the damp undergrowth in the garden at the back of the
house.

Froggie was seriously cute. And possibly very tasty sauteed in garlic
butter, but Froggie lives.

Cheers, helen s

Which is completely amazing, since Froggie doesn't seem to have any
survival instinct. Doesn't it know the value of fear?

An explantion could be that is was very cold out there and being
cold-blooded, Froggie may well have been in a state of virtual torpor where
he simply could not move as it was too cold for him to do so.

My dad once heard a loud, booming noise coming from his patio, and
went out to investigate.  He found a tiny little green frog under the
metal barbecue cover, singing away, and presumably enjoying the extra
resonance.

HAHA!! How cute. I think that frog should have auditioned for a
Budweiser commercial. :)

That reminds me of that Bugs Bunny cartoon with the singing frog (from a
llloong time ago on tv).  "Hello my baby, hello my darlin, hello my ragtime
doll".  (hope someone remembers this; otherwise I just sound wierd).

That's Michigan J. Frog.  I love the cartoon where Bugs is trying to
keep him quiet for some reason and he keeps popping up. :)

Now I have the song "Froggie went a courtin' " stuck in my head.
Although I think your froggie is a courtin' disaster :)

You showed excellent restraint, if I may say so.  However, you should
have warned Froggie that further temptations would not be safe.

In science, 'fact' can only mean 'confirmed to such a degree that it
would be perverse to withhold provisional assent.' I suppose that apples
might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal
time in physics classrooms.

Why thank you. I do tend to view the wildlife of the grounds of Chateau
Unfit Family though pink lenses. But if we had bears, I would not.. or
anacondas...  Basically I have an aversion to wildlife that can view me as a
snack. Nor Sydney Funnel Web spiders... I do not like cockroaches (raw,
fried or boiled..). I'm rambling a bit here, aren't I.

Of course, the only way to have a cockroach is roasted. ;o)

If there was sun on the porch, he was probably sunning himself.  Silly
creature should be hibernating!
