I had hoped to set up another group purr activity for the nearest
equinox or full moon. Looks like I missed both - doh! GOt to pay more
attention!

So how about this weekend? Maybe Saturday evening/Sunday morning, same
time schedule as last time? I'll update the purr list today or tomorrow.

Sounds good to me Dan - I'm always up for that.

Here are the needs for purrs I've gathered (I probably missed some, if so I
hope those people let us know):

Grace to help her through her grief
Ginger-lyn and the kitty she rescued
Nancy for a new job
John for his stomach problems
Karen's mom's cousin
People in Florida who were hit by FOUR hurricanes in six week's time

Anyone else???

Hugs,

I could still use job purrs. I did NOT get the job that I was so sure I
had in the bag. They had even told me they were getting upper management's
approval to make me an offer! Then they had a big management shakeup and
now they've decided that they need to keep looking for someone who is
perfectly qualified for their position. Good luck to them - perfect matches
are hard to find. I thought I was a pretty d*mn good match. GRRRR. Dilbert
strikes again.

Thanks,

I seem to be a huge consumer of purrs just lately, what with my eye
operation and all the complications.  I have to ask for a few more, I've
been offline and need to catch up, because on Monday night on my way to bed,
I fell backwards down the stairs.  13 of them, I was nearly on the top one.
I think the reason was that all these years I've never had a stair rail, my
stairs are steep and go up between two walls, one is the outside of the
house.
When I knew I needed help with the chickens, I had a stair rail installed
for Uncle Bryan, as his balance isn't so good after his stroke. But I
measured the inside wall instead of the outside one, and the rail is maybe
18 inches too short, so at the top it doesn't carry on long enough and I
needed to hold on to the windowsill on one side and the edge of the wall on
the other, it didn't work too well : -( and backwards, hitting every stair
with my head I went.
I lay at the bottom of the stairs for probably an hour, everything was agony
and I couldn't get up because of that.  Eventually I persuaded myself I had
to, and took myself through some pain barriers.
In the morning. I had to phone for Auntie Margaret to come back to feed and
water the chickens and geese and feed the cats.  My neck and shoulder blade
at the front (collar bone?) hurt so much that I could hardly move, I
couldn't even open the curtains.
It took her an hour and half on the bus to get here, bless her, she's so
wonderful.  She thought I ought to go to hospital but I've had enough of
them at the moment, so I refused.  Not only that, but I knew it would be
impossible to lift my arms, and that therefore they would cut my clothes
off.  No way.  I had a nice sweater and tee-shirt on ;-)
I couldn't go to bed last night, as I knew if I laid down, I wouldn't be
able to get up, it would be too painful to try and raise myself up, so I
slept downstairs in the armchair with the patchwork woollen blanket round
me, that Auntie knitted while she was here.  That's when I discovered that
Kitty snored!
I woke up about 8 times in the night, because my whole head seems bruised
and it hurts a lot to lean back on it. and it was strange to be asleep
sitting up in a chair. My head was also cut and there is blood in my hair
that I can't do anything about yet,  can't bend over, and I can't lift my
arms yet to wash my hair free of it.
I have managed to look after the chickens, geese and cats today.  I threw
everyone's food on the floor, I couldn't bend to get the dishes up so that's
how they had to have it served, at least they got something to eat.
I think I'm improving a bit since yesterday.  Everything still hurts a lot,
but it isn't absolute agony.  It just hurts a lot.. there's a difference.
I am just *so* clumsy but rest assured that I would always look after any
animals/birds that depended on me.
I'd crawl, and lay down to rest in between, but I'd make sure they were fed
and watered in some sort of way.  Unlike the dreadful brother of one of us
who chose to watch TV instead.

I need to get the stair rail extended.  I could have easily have broken my
neck or spine and been a gonner.
I mightn't have been found for nearly a week.  I'd been to relatives Sunday,
and neighbours Monday, like I always do.
As I'm off sick from work at the moment (they'd soon raise the alarm, they
did once when I was stuck in a traffic jam) no-one checks that I'm okay on a
regular basis.  My brothers are too busy.

Thanks for the purrs.  Yes, it hurt, but I am absolutely not going to
hospital to wait 8-10 hours in Casualty to find out I haven't broken
anything.  They don't do neck braces here any more.
I'll just lay on my settee and moan for a day or two.
It's definitely a bit better today.  Still hurts a lot, but not almost
intolerable like it was yesterday.
I'm certain nothing is broken, I've just torn muscles and nerves in the 12
foot fall and they'll take some weeks to repair.
My aunt said, when she arrived yesterday  "What *are* you like?"
Clumsy, I guess.  That's me.  If something can go wrong, it will, my German
friend calls me (sarcastically) "Lucky Tina"

Boyfriend has not forgotten his girlfriend Tortie, it's in his mind that he
might love her a bit but he wants to know more about her.
He is a very gentle and special cat and he wants to make sure he isn't
getting a fierce girlfriend which would scare him too much.

Tortie is a real 'love bug'.  She was a very pregnant little kitty
when she adopted me.  The first day she found me she wound her little
self around my ankles and purred.  She was a good meowmie to her
little ones.  I didn't see them until they were almost 6 weeks old.
She showed up every morning for her breakfast and then I wouldn't see
her again until the next morning.  After the kittens were running
around she taught them to hunt mousies, and she has been very gentle
and patient with them.

I think that she has been teleporting herself across the pond since I
don't see her every day.  She'll be gone for 2 or 3 days and then
she'll be back for 2 or 3 days.  Have you by any chance seen a little
grey kitty with a blonde tip on the end of her tail?

No, I can't say I have, but BF used to be in the house almost all the while
and now he always goes out to look for Tortie, 16 hours a day.
Kitty is sleeping quietly in front of the gas fire in the kitchen.  She says
BF's stupid to be out when it's bedtime.
Whoops!  Here he is.  He came in just now and ate some dry food, that's what
he likes.

He extends a gentle paw to Tortie.  He'd like to see her photo.  He isn't
sure whether he's in love or not.

I'm afraid Tortie is very camera shy.  Every time she sees me with the

Auntie just stayed for the day.  She has a husband, seriously affected by a
stroke that she needs to care for and had to go back home for him.
She filled up all the water drinkers for the chickens, and that's something
I couldn't have done.  It'll last for two days.
I managed to feed them by throwing food onto the floor, and the drinkers
were still okay, had enough water in them although I like to change the
water daily.
I think I'll be all right.  It hurts so much, but I think it's only
bruising. It won't stop me from looking my animals/birds.  Nothing would
stop me actually, unless I was dead.

I meant to say something about that, but forgot. My grandfather's life
was probably saved when he had a stroke, when my cousin's husband was
in the area and stopped by for lunch. If nothing else, could your Aunt
just call you once a day to make sure you're still up and around?

Healing purrs on the way. Wouldn't be a bad idea to check with the Doc
when you feel up to it to make sure you didn't break anything - I'd
say right away, but it sounds like you've decided to wait. I don't
want to add to your worries, but could the blows to your head hurt the
healing eye? I seem to remember that part of your present slow
recovery is because you sneezed or something right after surgery.

Anyway, the purrs are already started and hope the aches/pain/bruises
are alrady benifiting from them

As I was falling backwards down the stairs, it crossed my mind what it might
do to my recently operated upon eye. It could easily have detached my
retina, but it didn't.  I'm not sure if the surgery has been a complete
success, as firstly everything is blurred, and secondly, straight lines are
still a bit bent.  I was just so glad it didn't start another retinal bleed.
It's funny what you think about in those few seconds while falling so far.
Another thing I thought about on the way down was   "this could be serious"
That is such an understatement.  I'm lucky it didn't kill me, or paralyse
me.  I was so lucky,
(she says, in a lot of pain still from back and neck)

I am fairly confident I haven't broken anything,  I think ligaments and
muscles are torn and these will respond to rest.  Yes, I could spend half a
night at the hospital, and I feel sure they'd tell me the same thing.
It does hurt a lot, at the moment, though.  It hurts so much that I  have to
say  <rude vulgar, by god it hurts, things>  I'd like to swear, as well.

Good grief, Tweed!  I'm just glad to hear that you're alive.  Never
worry about the amount of purrs you're getting -- people are most
happy to send them.  Purr power isn't something you use up, it's a
manifestation of the music of the universe.  There's always plenty to
go around.

Eeeeek! That's really scary! And falling backwards, you could have gotten
much more injured than you did. I think your German friend might not be
so ironic - you *are* lucky this time.

I sympathize with you not wanting to sit in a waiting room for 8+ hours,
but I am also worried that your injuries are worse than they seem. I guess
you'll know in a day or two - but if you don't seem to be getting any
better, I hope you'll relent and get it checked out.

I have a fear of falling backwards down a set of stairs while carrying
something heavy, which might make me misjudge the center of gravity and
cause me to topple over backwards. It's almost happened a few times...

Purrs (and I do mean that literally, since we all know now how helpful
they are) for a quick recovery!

Oh, my goodness, Tweed! That sounds terrible! Many purrs coming over for
yu to heal completely. I understand about not wanting to go to hospital
(I feel like I've spent about half my life in various waiting rooms at
doctors, dentists, hospitals and other health care facilities), but that
sounds like something that should be seen to. I hope at least that you

Thanks, Marina, I can move a bit now.  I would guess (because I had one once
after a car accident) that I have a whiplash injury to the neck as it hurts
a lot to turn it..  It still hurts to move my left arm, but I *can* move it,
so I know it isn't broken.
I might say (if I was Pollyanna) that how lucky I am that my eye pressure
went up as was so painful I got mega-painkillers for it and they were so
useful for when I fell down the stairs.
On the other hand..I might say "was it something I did wrong in a previous
life?"  ;-)

I'm trying to reply to you all, bit by bit.

What a nice bunch you all are.  I don't have Munchausen's syndrome!  It's
all really happening to me.
If anyone I might have missed, needs prayers and purrs, here are.
Prrrrrrrrrrrr.  That's Kitty. She's a purr engine. P  that's Boyfriend, I've
only known him to purr once - or maybe twice. He's too shy to purr.
There is some sort of good news.  I keep rare breed chickens.  I wasn't
intending to breed any this year because of my problems but Auntie Margaret
failed to notice that a hen had secreted herself away when she first came,
to sit on some eggs.
Yesterday, I got four chicks.  <sigh>  it's far, far too late in the season,
but hey, they're here.
This is what they are:
Oh, no, I suddenly realised I couldn't send a jpeg to the group without

at death's door, so I know how you feel, but it's possible you might
have an injury that could *become* serious.

I *think* I have the list up to date, but would welcome corrections. As
before, it's at http://www.catfolks.net/purrs.shtml

Can you add Jane Garner to stay safe until the abdominal aorta anuerism can
be fixed? I would truly appreciate it.

Dan, could Sam be added to the list? He'd really like to be able to join
the rest of the kitty family and this weekend we're going to try to
integrate him with at least Selena and Lacey. We may leave Hobbes until
next week.  But any "please be my friend" purrs that are available would
be greatly appreciated.  Patience purrs for me would help as well.  I
always get discouraged when I'm trying to introduce a new cat.  I want
it to go quicker than it does.

Sam and I appreciate any purrs sent his way,
Julie

Integration purrs coming over, Julie. We're hoping Sam will soon fit
right into the family.

Sam is added. Purrs that the integration goes smoothly. I know how
frustrating it can be!

I have to light a little candle for him tonight, then.  How did you get to
know?
Heart healing purrs for his meowmie.

Crackles mommy posted a note to the Yahoo "catslaves" newsgroup - she was
posting from a public library since her family is still in the process of
moving out of their hurricane-damaged home.

If it isn't bad enough to lose your home, you have to lose your cat too..
I've lit a small green candle for Crackles to find his way.  It's a scented
one called "Evergreen."

So sorry to hear about Crackles (haven't checked Catslaves in ages, so
thanks for posting this here, CN). We are puyrring for his family for
their loss, and for their living situation to be solved soon.

The little green candle I lit for him earlier has burned right down.  I
think he must be there at RB now restored to full health.
